I currently have two small dogs, Merlot the chihuahua mix and Colby the terrier mix. My wife wants to get a kitten... So is there a type of cat that gets along better with dogs?
I have a great experience of keeping dos and cats. Now I have 3 dogs and 8 cats at my home. Thea are all friends. But I must say that everything in the matter is individual. If you get lucky everything will be ok. If you take a little kitten he will get used to live with dogs. But how will your dogs react?
Small dogs are usually very jealous... Feel free to ask me more questios about pets )) You can see more about my mini-shelter https://steemit.com/animal/@prettytoon/traditional-weekend-writing-about-inhabitants-of-our-mini-shelter-meet-our-monkey-dog-belka
The best advice I can give you is less about the breed of cat and more about the age and gender, it will be less likely that your dogs will see a small kitten as a territorial threat than a full grown cat.
That being said, some dogs are so prey driven, that even though they may not ever mean to hurt your cat- a new kitten can grow up feeling incredibly territorially insecure themselves being constantly chased around and harassed even if your dogs just want to play.
I think a lot of the way things will turn out is based on how you introduce everyone, (slow is best, and at feeding time so everyone associates all the new smells with good things) and whether or not you have enough space where they can all feel safe and as though they have some ownership over where they live. Lots of vertical space for kitty to get away from the dogs where he or she can feel like shes got a good perspective of the whole shared living area.

Thank you! Yeah a little worried about what might happen when they are left home alone.
I think it's appropriate to leave them in different rooms for the first time, at least for a week
