Pet Battles (Dog Life Day #3)

Pet battles

A few years ago, we had a wonderful golden Eurasier dog called Tikva. She took deep care for her younger house mate, B'Elanna, a black Eurasier.

Tikva and B'Elanna

Where Tikva was intelligent, B'Elanna was not. But B'Elanna was very loyal to Tikva.

B'Elanna loved three things:

  • Water.
  • Food.
  • Biting games.

Whenever she could, she went to Tikva, and said, "Shall we play biting games, eh, eh, eh? That's the best I know."

And often, Tikva would play, just for the sake of B'Elanna, the eternal puppy.

When we got a cat, Frostie, he became involved in the biting games, but Tikva was always careful not to harm him.

She loved cats, too.

Why do we get all the crazy dogs? :D

Sadly, Tikva died. And a few years later, I got Nefnef.

Where Tikva was motherly, Nefnef is not. She sees her teddies as preys, but cats, well, she loves cats.

She wasn't as careful around Frostie though as Tikva was. So the first time I caught them doing pet battle, Nefnef with her jaws around Frostie's head, I yelled at them to stop.

Nefnef learned that the biting-thing around Frostie wasn't okay, and then she observed him. What did he do? Oh, he swung his paws?

Great!

So Nefnef learned to fight with her paws.

Of course, Frostie wins every time, but the little worm often cheats.

He would come at her, ears back, sneaking forward slowly, one paw at a time, and then meowing loudly to call our attention. At first, we would scold Nefnef, until we figured out what he was doing.

I let them fight a little, because they really love it, but once the play gets too rough, I stop them.

Then they both leave our living room and do pet battles in silence in our bed room.

Sneaky pets ;)

Sort:

I am dreaming about getting a cat for my Zus...but i have a very strong feeling that he will bite his head off...

I really think that a cure for his hyperactivity might be getting him a friend...but how the F$%K I am suppose to take care of another one like him!? :)

LOL, for sure I wouldn't want one more dog like Nefnef with the energy she has. I've found that a dog and a cat works better than two dogs, or two cats. Perhaps because they can be friend but still need our human company, whereas if they are a couple, then they mostly only need themselves and they aren't as social.

Hmmm, makes sense actually.
I actually heard just a while ago that cats get along better with dogs, then cats...
And that usually , at first they might have trouble to get a long, but after a while they get used to each other and often it turns into a beautiful relationship :)

That's what I've noticed too, @carpedimus. We laugh here in the evening when we hear the cats meowing loudly after each other. Not because of the cats, who fight, but because I once saw a post that said that cats only meowed to humans, because we otherwise wouldn't understand them. And that between each other they used telepathy.

Some loud telepathy going on in our neighborhood ;)

Lol yeah very loud telepathy indeed!!! Baooooooooo Baoooooooooo ....all night long :)

This dog, Naki'o, lost all of his legs to frostbite in Colorado, but now has four prosthetic legs and can run around like normal.

It has been scientifically proven that stroking a cat can lower one's blood pressure.
