Free Floating GYP Free of Ailments - Sweet Dreams!
"You've been taken to the VET"
That's what the sudden text said
...the only notice we were to get!
Friend, you one-eyed grayscale Gyp!
crazy crankie Collie
locked-on in puppyhood to one
who was not the humans who took you home!
All your life you pinned
vying for the attention of a non-stranger
repeatedly heart-broken
each time you returned home from the walk
with tail between legs.
Wise old Dog
14-year specialist survivor
pack leader
(till Shanti came along to wind you up)
explorer of the wilderness
soft suffering spirit
You were not yet spent!
I didn't realise when I saw you last week - did you?
I thought we had longer.
BUT the vet is a GOD!!!
goddamn RIGHT!
and when he gives the nod
what do gullible humans do?
but sod
all to forestall the NEEDLEss sword!

What a beautiful dog and poem. I'm sorry he's no longer here but he's in a better place now.
Thanks for saying so @wanderlass!
Chase that tail! Dogs chase their tails for a variety of reasons: curiosity, exercise, anxiety, predatory instinct or, they might have fleas! If your dog is chasing his tail excessively, talk with your vet.
