[DLive] Earth Day Video and Combo @steemhunt #EarthDay post for today!

Kinda wanted to mix it up today and seeing as @dlive have a wonderful campaign running for the next 48 hrs I felt I would throw my video into the mix as well — check out this link — https://steemit.com/dlive/@dlive/campaign-or-earth-day-giving-back-can-be-very-rewarding for information about the campaign dedicated to Mother Nature.

We can all make little adjustments, instead of try and come off as any kind of way (informed or otherwise) I thought I’d put together a bunch of stuff about things I know and try to do on a day by day and weekly basis to offset my carbon footprint, optimise and generally be more sustainable and good to my body and hopefully inspires others to do the same.

First out of the gate I want to say I’m not touching the surface at the extent of things you can and I really suggest you read that post because it already has some great ideas of things you can do in your locality — we have a number of areas in life where you can get involved.

I wanted to come at it from my perspective and be authentic and real as to the way I make change on a minimal level building up to be more receptive of subtle changes so it’s not such a big shock on the system — these are the things discussed in the video.

• living sustainability is always a culture shift and behaviour change
• cut down on processed meats (or completely) vegetarian options are great
• try and completely cut out buying bottled water
• ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ = waste (don’t go cheap on unknown brands)
• be considerate and understand the energy you use daily
• research the sharing economy — a friend wrote this book on amazon
• swap regular coffee cup to a reusable keepcup at ya fav coffee shop
• understand and play with solar and batteries — have solar products
• consider a new electric transportation method like a rad power bike.
• you could follow along making a 1k euros electric bwm too! :)

i realise that this does not go down to root level about a number of very important topics but I wanted to get across the point about ‘behaviour change’ because I believe it’s the strongest part to focus on — changing the way you have always done things is hard than just starting out in life and realising that ‘it’s just a better way of doing things’

Personally I think we have a marketplace, a work place, an uncertain future we need to navigate through and be strong ambassadors for our children who will go on long after we have left this plain, we never know when that will be so we need to make sure they are informed and wise to the effects on the living breathing planet we call home.
