#DCEP Update: How real curators do their job!

in #dlive6 years ago (edited)

The idea of this self project is to encourage Dlivers and Steemians in general to stop focusing so much on content creation and start consuming others content, engage with its creators and give them some support and appreciation. To set a good example and show everyone how honest curation looks like I've been documenting my DLive Curation/Engagement Project #DCEP and will post weekly updates on it that I hope, will inspire you to do the same.

Support this project on Fundition.io

Just stopping by someones video/livestream/blog/whatever to leave a comment without even consuming the content means nothing. People will notice that and quickly disregard your failed attempt to gain some extra rewards by leaving overly positive fake feedback.

No one likes that and there is no point of doing it, so please refrain from doing so in the future and either be genuine with your feedback or don't leave any at all!

How real curation and honest engagement looks like

All of the below mentioned stream I watched for at least half an hour to an hour because just joining for 5 minutes to leave a comment is not how curation/engagement should be done

Polish streamers are awesome!

Chatting with @dirapa is always fun. He is actually one of the first streamers I started watching when I came to Dlive and a good friend of mine. During this stream he opened my eyes to Rules of Survival which he suggested I should get. After downloading it I found out that I can't even pick up weapons ingame. Couldn't figure it out so I joined one of his next streams where he explained how to do it and that he had exactly the same problem when he first got into the game.

Later on he started playing League of Legends, asked me to come join him but as I didn't play the game in the longest time I didn't want to ruin his stream with my bad plays :)

We came to a conclusion that both of us would greatly benefit from new PC's as we are having the same problem of not being able to run certain games as they are too graphically demanding for our current machines.

Creepiest game ever!

@thecastle played one of the most messed up games I've ever seen so I had to chat with him about it. I won't go into too much detail about the game as it's NSFW content but I'll say that @thecastle runs his streams very well, communicates with his viewers nicely and when I donated him some SBD he asked me what do I want him to do ingame. See the conversation for my reply. Again, I will not say what he did because it's NSFW. Check out his livestreams if interested, they are very unique and interesting to say the least!

Informative talks

Here, I joined @whack.science stream where we chatted for an hour straight. Talking about everything you can imagine we ended up on the topic of Steembasicincome. A project that aims to ensure basic income to every Steemian. I explained him and his friend (who he was streaming/playing with) how it works and what the project is about. Intrigued by the idea @whack.science invested some Steem in the project later on.

Playing with Dlivers

While talking to @yasayanoluler he expressed the desire to play with me, so I joined him after I finished my morning curation routine.

He thought I was trolling him by leaving him alone vs the enemies but I honestly just failed to land correctly. We played for at least an hour after which I had to go to start my own live stream. Even though we were very unlucky ingame, I had a lot of fun playing with him.

Sharing tips and resources

@lensili is actually from my hometown and I met him and a couple of other Dlivers in person. Him and the rest of the Steemit/Dlive crew were awesome and I had a great time meeting up with them. On this occasion I joined @lensili and offered some tips on how to improve his live streams. He didn't have an overlay, so I sent him the ones I had and directed him to TidyLabs where he can get more widgets and alerts to improve his streams even further. Sadly, a day later he got a 14 day suspention from the game so he is not going to play it any more. Hopefully he still uses TidyLabs for his other live streams!

Funniest guy ever!

Chatting with @vectorabbot was awesome! He is a great storyteller and lives treamer so I told him how much I enjoyed his show. It didn't came as much of a surprise when he said that he has worked in the theatre for a long time and that his last job was working as a radio hoast. The way he runs his streams is so interesting that no matter what game he plays or how boring it may look, it will still be interesting just to hear him talk.

He mentioned that he was very hard which shocked me as I had no idea what he meant by that. He went on a humorous rampage and with a special voice explained how you need to train and build your phisical form just so that you can be soft again and express true love and affection. I can't really explain it as good as he did but if you are interested in finding out what exatly did he mean by it, stop by one of his live streams and ask him :)

Real talk!

Then we wen't on to talk about excercising/nutrition only to end up on the heavy subjects of GMO and the control system. We wen't on to talk about how messed up the world currently is for the next half an hour. He is very intelligent and I really enjoyed chatting with him as he shown me that we are on the same grounds when it comes to this kind of knowledge.

Polish humor

Even though @txmek is Polish and doesn't speak much English this was my favourite interaction with a DLiver this week. Him and his friends had a drunken live stream. Nedless to say it was isnanely funny talking to him and his friends. The most interesting part of the conversation we had that night was when they figured out I'm Croatian and can understand at least 30% of what they are saying in Polish. They were quite shocked by it but still had a good laugh out of it. After donating he performed a special move he learned in his 1 week of training boxing :)

Weekly favourite live streamers

@calimeatwagon @beyondthecrypto @the-oracool @noahbalboa @tazbaz @shankstaicho @txmek @thecastle @vectorabbot

I'll update the list each week and fill it with awesome Dlive content creators that I think deserve your attention and support. Stop by their lives treams/ videos, share your thoughts, curate their content (if you like it) and engage with them. They definitely deserve it!

In the last 7 days I donated

29.5 Steem/SBD ( not sure how much of each as every time I was gifting either one or another but didn't keep track of it)

100% of the liquid rewards generated by this post will be re-distributed to Dlive content creators in form of donations. With your help I'll be able to reach more unique users each week and share the love around all corners of Dlive!

Show some love and support #DCEP on Fundition.io

In the future I hope to see

More Dlivers following my lead, curating and engaging in honest, meaningful conversation with other Dlive streamers/content creators, sharing their knowledge and a part of their earnings with the rest of the community. By doing so, we will start an unstoppable circle of quality engagement and constructive feedback that we lack of so much!

If you want me to stop by your live stream or watch your video

Message me on Discord: runicar#1726
I'll leave you my honest opinion about your content, share tips on where you can improve and chat about anything. If I like your content or just think that you deserve it, I'll curate and share some love in form of hearts/hugs/rings (Steem/SBD)

Keep sharing love and support as you already do! Can't wait for you LIVE curation stream!

Let's show that supporting mentality is more than welcome here and let's make people support other people!

WOOHOO, Exciting days are ahead of us!

Will do! There is no other way man. #onlylove If we persist long enough people will start following our lead, and over time their followers will do the same, then the followers of their followers and so on = GG

I'm very excited about the Live curation show but still didn't figure out how to go about it. Tried watching your stream on it but for some reason it didn't want to load propperly. Anyway, gotta prepare as the first show should be tomorrow :)

I also didn't know how to do it so I pressed GO LIVE and I just started to go on other streams and trying to find those ones who are here daily and have a webcam and talk with their viewers. That's like few things I'm searching for..

Good luck with that, it will be exciting for sure!

That's what I thought but I want to add something like streamer showcase part where I talk about my favourite streamers to give them some extra exposure + I don't want to just focus on the x amount of people streaming at that time, so I'll pause the stream to come back a couple of hours later when some fresh faces come Live.

yap.. Sounds amazing! I hope to catch you live when you do this! See ya around!

I will also do RECAP post and mention those people that I curated. That way it will give them more exposure :D

When are you doing your next show? Maybe we can sync in and do it together once? That would be great.

Good idea!

I don't know. Hopefully, when I get a few donations, I will do it. But it will be this month. I said to do it 2 times a month but with donations, I can do it more often. I remain open to everything.

Yap, great idea. I am all into syncing :D Maybe in 7-8-10 days? How often you plan to do it?

Let's do it then! I'm not sure how often I'll be able to do it though, depends on my budget which is quite low nowadays. Maybe every other week.

So,very nicely explained through examples that how we can engage with the community of Dlivers and Steemians by seeing their work and give some support + suggestion.

There are lot of benefits of communicating with right people on Steemit and Dlive.Your one comment on a newbie steemer and dliver can give a smile on their face, your suggestion on anyone's content can let him/her to skyrocket his carreer and moreover the good habit of commenting and curating can make this platform reliable for minnows.

Glad the message got through and to see you curating and engaging with Dlivers and other Steemians!

Glad the message got through and to see you curating and engaging with Dlivers and other Steemians!

Yep i will do it

Think I've seen your comments around before, but I just got the chance to go through some of your earlier posts and like what you had to say. I hope people take note of your efforts to actually be a human being when it comes to using dlive.

Yep, that's the goal. Most of the interaction nowadays are either left for attention or a chance of monetary rewards but people easily see through that leaving us with little real, human interaction happening. This is not just a problem for Dlive, but for all other Steem based apps and Steemit in general. Dlive is just a smaller community that I feel like I can have a bigger influence on than trying to fix Steemit, so it was a logical starting point.

It's hard getting exposure here but I hope that over time people will notice my posts and acknowledge the importance of honest engagement.

Yeah it's just game theory for maximizing earnings on a platform where >99% of the people are here just to earn. Most high earners' best strategy is to be a part of and maintain a few strong connections because they have some stake themselves or have gotten on certain peoples' good sides, and the small-time players all try to get those sweet comment rewards so their effort is spread thin because it's just good strategy for them to post anywhere they have a chance to get a small upvote. Hell, even I'm here to earn, even if I say what I'm doing with what I earn is a little different than most.

You're right about that, it's a good effort to try and start small and maybe see the change spread to other sectors of the blockchain at large instead of starting in reverse.

Yep, circle jerks all around and it's sad to see some users who you first thought were genuine and here with good intentions start engaging in such activities. I can't lie and say that I never took part in such activities but my motivations were honest at least (spend all of the circle jerked earnings to fund my contests and give out more) while the High SP circle jerks will never give anything out but rather take everything for themselves as that's the whole point; to incre their crypto stake.

I wrote a post calling out the biggest circle jerks on Steemit that I think you will find interesting. Check out the names mentioned, you might be surprised to see some of them :)

Yea, there is no other way to go about it currently, otherwise my reach will be to small the change will be unnoticable. This way I really think that I got a chance to change something.

Great work, you set a good example 👊
Thanks bro, I appreciate that ❣
See you ☮

Hey buddy, thanks for stopping by and showing some support 👊
