March ’18 DLive Analysis - Blockchain Business Intelligence
If you still stream on Twitch, then you’re streaming in the wrong place my friend….welcome to DLive
DLive is one of those awesome apps built on the Steemit platform. If you are looking for a streaming solution then DLive is surely worth checking out.
Although relatively new, DLive is heavily funded by way of delegated SP from Steemit Inc and has such massive potential.
Aim of Analysis
The aim of this analysis is to monitor the monthly activity from @dlive in terms of voting. It is also to analyse posts made via the Dlive app and posts made to the dlive category on the STEEM Blockchain
This analysis will be carried out on a monthly basis so that trends can be established and growth measured.
The Data
The data from the blockchain is limited. When it comes to streaming videos, metrics such as streaming duration and number of viewers are of critical importance if you are trying to grow your channel. However this data is not collected on the blockchain and not part of this analysis
Using PowerBI, I have connected to the SteemSQL database (paid subscription service held and managed by @arcange). You can find full details of the query used at the bottom of the article
The Analysis
March Dlive Votes Overview
In Feb 2018 DLive voted 3639 times for 585 Authors. This increased in March to 5581 votes for 1055 different authors. Awesome work as almost 100% more Streemers were rewarded with a DLive upvote in March over February.
The average vote payout was SBD $13, down from $32. The total approx. payout given by DLive was SBD $74.5K, down from $116.13K. We can also see from above that the average % voting weight used by @dlive was 5.68%% and the average number of votes given per day was 180.
The lower vote value is a result of changes in pricing of STEEM. This, along with the small reduction in voting weight used resulted in a lower average SBD payout and approximate vote value.
March Voting Time Series
we can see from the time series as the month progresses the number of authors and posts voted on each day is on a upward trend, which the average vote weight is on a downward trend.
It would be expected that a voter would use less voting power if casting more votes.

The average post payout in March for #dlive posts was $4.22 – substantially higher than the overall post payout average on the Steemit blockchain
We seen above that Dlive have given out approx. SBD $74.5K. That equates to 67% of the total rewards for this category/tag/app. Down from 77%.
These 26K posts received 92K comments from 9054 authors. The comments received 16K votes and received rewards of SBD $1.47K

And the list below shows those that engage with the posts via comments
Conclusion
Dlive is an awesome project, receiving 26K posts in the month of March and voting for 5881 of them. This means that 1 in 5 posts made will be voted on by @dlive. @dlive voted on average 180 times a day in March.
With the increase in voting, @dlive reduced the average voting weight. Unfortunately with the price of STEEM dropping, the 100% vote value from Dlive is way down on last month and so Dlive users felt the hit on votes given but with the increase in post, we can see this has not put people off.
67% of the payout in this category comes from @dlive. This is down from 77% which is an awesome achievement. It suggests more or larger SP holders are now actively voting on Dlive posts.

@paulag, Awesome break down on this post, looking forward to other analytic stats you do in the future. @Dlive Is really taking off and your first sentence in this post says it all!
Dlive is an amazing project. @dlive may always give the best for the steemians. Thank you for mistress @paulang
Indeed I really like dlive. I’ve told a couple of people that I’ve run into on Steemit who stream over on twitch that they simply be going further if they gave dlive a try instead. Granted it’s not like that in every situation but if you are not getting any where what so ever on twitch you might as well give here a try as well.
With how many people are over at twitch and just how hard it is to get noticed even for people who are really great at entertaining and are out spoken. There just a better chance here while dlive is still young to get in and build up an audience. That really is the trick to building up get in on a place that is still striving to find its superstars. There always plenty of room at the start.
I’m rather mediocre at it but I just like being able to live steam some game play from time to time. I just with more people would put some effort in the text of the blog. Its often left blank with just a link to the stream or very little of anything. It leaves a great opportunity for those that excel at that portion of blogging to use up that space.
I cant wait to use dlive, just waiting on my studio. I think it will be awesome to use for live teaching amoung other things
Great work! It's awesome to see those statistics! Nicely done Paula!
Nice work maam
How does Dlive compare with Dtube? I've heard Dlive also allows you to upload normal videos, so I'm wondering which has the largest active following now.
When I read @binjeeclick writing about you in https://steemit.com/witness/@binjeeclick/full-support-to-steemcommunity, he said that you always support #aceh. So I was choice you as one of my witness vote. Thankyou for your attention to #aceh @paulag
yeyyy!
I love these data reports, great stuff! Any chance we'll see a similar breakout for dMania and dTube? @paulag
