RE: Ulog 18 - Personal Independence Day

in #dlive7 years ago (edited)

hi @mariannewest ,

I haven't really watched your DLive ULog yet, but I totally understand your predicament of medical bills (and what not that comes along with it).

I did not have cancer, but I did have lumps (that were later declared benign after 2 years in and out of the hospital for monthly checkups) in 2014.

Those were small bills compared to what I was dealing with before that, my mom's Steven Johnson Syndrome (medical allergy) hospital bills, and her Total Knee Replacement.

You see, in Malaysia, you don't need to have an insurance to go for the procedure as long as your kids can afford it; and at the time when my mom almost died in 2006 over Steven Johnson Syndrome, after scrambling cash from all sides we managed to save her life.

And for you to walk away from the store despite of settling the medical bills I totally applaud your courage and strength.

I'd probably need to watch your Dlive and see what's your secret behind that.

Although it is 19 days overdue,

Happy Independence Day to you!

(I have about 20 years of housing loan to tackle)

Well, in many ways, it is here the same as well. Hospitals only have to admit and treat you if you have a life-threatening emergency. Under Obama, insurance became mandatory and they had to take you, even if you had a disease like cancer in the past.
Before, if you had a known condition of any kind, insurances could deny coverage and you were on your own. And hospitals charge way more to people without insurance.
But even with, your co-payments are still high and many people have lost their homes and everything due to being sick...
And yes, we have that house payment as well :(
