New *XCOM Long War 2* Let's Play Series - Audience Participation - Win SBD!
Hi All,
I'm going to start a new series on DLive soon (probably today). I'm going to play XCOM Long War 2 live, and I'm planning to play the campaign to completion no matter what happens.
I want to make it more interesting for the audience by asking for your participation, and you might win some SBD by doing so.
I'm modelling it on the idea of death gratuity - the money a soldier's family gets when they are killed in war. There will be a fund of SBD built up during the campaign. When your soldier dies, you will get a portion of the fund as reparation for your loss.
Here are the rules:
Registration fee: 1 SBD. Please transfer to @demotruk and include a link to your comment describing how your soldier should look, their name and perhaps a background story. I'll do my best to make them as you describe. If you have a copy of XCOM 2 you can create a custom soldier in the editor and I'll import them into my game. Your character will be added to my character pool, the game will decide when they will show up in my campaign. I'll call these characters 'audience soldiers' in this post.
Some people are already in my character pool. They get to play for free (although Ned and Dan will be treated as generic soldiers).
Funds will be stored in @xcomreparations
Only 1 mission per episode
If I go 2 weeks without an episode (barring exceptional circumstances), all the liquid funds in @xcomreparations will be split among surviving registered soldiers (even if you didn't make it into the campaign).
When any soldier dies, generic or an audience soldier, the liquid rewards from that episode is put into @xcomreparations upon payout.
When an audience soldier dies - after the episodes post is paid out, half the liquid funds in @xcomreparations will be split among all the audience members who died in that episode.
If nobody dies in an episode, I get to keep half the liquid rewards from that post. This is an incentive for me to play well. The other half goes to @xcomreparations
If I complete the campaign (this will never happen, Long War is a game you always lose eventually) then 2/3 of the funds in @xcomreparations will be split among surviving audience soldiers who made it into the campaign as a bonus, and I'll keep 1/3 as a reward for saving the world. Soldiers who were registered but never showed up in the campaign don't get anything.
If I get a game over, the reparations fund is burned! XCOM is destroyed and thus there is nobody to pay out a gratuity. This will happen eventually but most of the audience soldiers will likely already be dead and thus have received some payout.
A soldier getting captured does not result in a gratuity, but they'll count as a surviving soldier if the game ends while they're still captured.
Liquid funds from this post will be transferred to @xcomreparations to kick start it
If something goes wrong with the campaign due to a bug or a crash, I'll work out how to deal with that based on the details.
I'm hoping to start the campaign today, so look out for it on DLive.io. Feedback on the rules before I start would be appreciated.
Edit: Changed the rules so that a bit more money goes towards reparations fund.
waaw haha this is smart step @demotruk, you are amazing. how will this happen, may you succeed.
Wow! I can't wait. I'm joining it live!!!
Do you want to register a soldier?
I haven't played the game before.
Will you be controlling all the soldiers or only a selected few?
Let's say I describe my soldier and registered him with you. Who controls him?
A little description on how the game works would be appreciated.
Perhaps, I should watch it when you are live.
I will control all the soldiers, and also choose which soldiers come out on which missions. The game will decide when the soldiers become available. Those who register before the campaign starts have a much higher chance of being involved sooner.
The game is a campaign to save the world, very long and almost certain to fail. It's a tactical war game with a strategic layer as well.
I did a let's play series about a year ago on Steemit so you can see what it's like with those videos.
Oh! Alright.
Hope the game would be showed live?
And about the soldier's description, should I do it here?
Or I should create a post writing his details and drop the link here?
Yes it will be live. Hoping to start the first one in the next hour or so.
Comment your description here, link it in the transfer memo.
Here's a video on the character customization options, which can give you some idea on what options I have for creating the character you describe:
Alright. Lemme get my descriptions ready.
This is gonna be amazing!!!!
-cheers-
