DLive Southern Utah Series #3 - Wire Pass
The third video in my Southern Utah video series is from Wire Pass Trail that goes to Buckskin Gulch very close to the border of Arizona. The trailhead to this hike is right on the way to White Pocket which I showed you in my last video. So you can do both these activities in a single day which is what @toddhata and I did.
Wire Pass trail leads you to Buckskin Gulch which is the longest slot canyon in the world. Different sources have varying lengths to how long the canyon actually goes for but it's at least 20 miles, maybe 30. It's hard to pinpoint it because it intersects with other canyons and such but it goes all the way to the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon! Maybe someday I'll hike the whole thing but it will take a lot of preparation which I didn't have this time around.
The trail to the slot canyon
From the parking lot it's about a mile walk to the slot canyon and from there you can pretty much go however far you want... all the way to the Grand Canyon or just a couple hundred meters before turning back. This was the first slot canyon I have ever seen and it is much lesser known than Antelope Canyon in Arizona where you have to pay at least $40 to get in. For this one, you pay $6 per person at the parking lot. It's not as spectacular or picturesque as Antelope Canyon but it is bigger and much much cheaper.
Slot canyons are very narrow
I made an attempt to climb up a wall that someone had carved footholds into but climbing down would have been an issue since I wouldn't see where the footholds are so it would have taken forever and I didn't want to be stranded there when it got dark. Oh well, it was an adventurous attempt anyway.

I've never been to Utah! Or seen a slot canyon. But I want to, especially Antelope! Even if it is more expensive.
I get so sad bc Dlive and Dtube videos don't always load for me. I blame foreign internet but then maybe not b/c youtube seems fine???
