Today I would like to "immortalize" another of my trance classics in the Steemit Blockchain. I published the story in German at that time as one of my very first articles, which unfortunately no 10 people have read. I am therefore so free to release a revised version and an English version today. I'll start with the article in German and hope that you like this long text by my standards. ;-)

Mit dem Titel Love Nation ist für mich untrennbar ein Erlebnis als DJ verknüpft. Und zwar spielte ich damals (ca. 1999/2000 - zu dieser Zeit hatte ich jeden Monat einen Gig in der Schweiz) in dem Mad Club in Lausanne in der Schweiz. Vor mir war mein Kollege DJ Mind-X (einer der bekanntesten Trance DJs aus der Schweiz, ein Urgestein der Szene) an den Plattentellern. Und natürlich hat er wie immer die Crowd total gerockt - mit einem sehr energetischen, schnellen und harten Sound. Mir war klar, daß es für mich schwer werden würde, hier noch irgendwie einen draufzusetzen - eigentlich unmöglich. Und so kam es dann auch. Die feiernden Partygäste hatten sich bei Mind-X völlig verausgabt, und als ich mit meinem Set anfing, ging es erwartet schleppend los, so daß ich mich bereits nach 3 Platten gezwungen sah, den damaligen Top Hit Komodo von Mauro Picotto aufzulegen, um die Leute irgendwie wieder zu richtig guter Laune zu bekommen. Das war eine der Platten, die man spielten konnte, wenn nichts mehr gin. Aber selbst das wollte in diesem Moment nicht so recht funktioneren.

Doch dann passierte mir folgendes: Der Track Komodo lief gerade mal 1 Minute, die Hauptmelodie war noch nicht mal erklungen, da rutschte die völlig verstaubte Nadel ssssssssssssseeeeed über die ganze Platte unter großem Getöse nach innen. Ein Unglück kommt selten allein... ;-) Erstaunlicherweise war mir das aber in diesem Augenblick völlig egal. Ich schickte eine kurze Geste des Bedauerns runter auf die Tanzfläche, zog den Fader am Mischpult runter, befreite die Nadel mit dem Finger von dem beachtlich großen Staubknäul und rief dann zu Partygästen: Gut, also nochmal von vorne. Nadel zurück an den Anfang der Platte, Fader wieder hoch!

Kaum erschallte die erste Basskick, brach im ganzen Laden ein riesen Jubelsturm aus. Von diesem Moment an gingen die Leute ab, wie ich es selten zuvor und danach erlebt habe. Ich hätte ab diesem Zeitpunkt wohl alles spielen können - die Feiermeute hätte trotzdem abgefeiert.

Als letzten Track an dem Abend habe ich die Love Nation gespielt. Und obwohl der Titel ein Instrumental ist, haben die Leute die Melodie im Break mitgesungen. Es war wie ein Chor. Und dieser Chor verstummte auch nicht, als die Platte aus und der offizielle Abend beendet war. Sie grölten die Melodie noch minutenlang weiter. Ich bekomme heute noch Gänsehaut, wenn ich an diesen genialen Abend zurückdenke.

Die Single Love Nation / Spacewalker erschien 1999 als Vinyl auf dem damals sehr renomierten (und in Fachkreisen bis heute legendären) Techno/Trance Label Suck Me Plasma von Talla 2XLC, der mittlerweile auch Ehrenbürger der Stadt Frankfurt am Main ist.

For me, the title Love Nation is inseparably linked to an experience as a DJ. I played at that time (ca. 1999/2000 - at that time I had a gig in Switzerland every month) in the Mad Club in Lausanne in Switzerland. Before it was my turn, my colleague DJ Mind-X (one of the most famous trance DJs from Switzerland, a veteran of the scene) was at the turntables. And of course, as always, he totally rocked the crowd - with a very energetic, fast and hard sound. It was clear to me that it would be difficult for me to somehow add to this - actually impossible. And so it happened. The party guests had completely exhausted themselves at Mind-X, and when I began with my set, it started expectantly sluggishly, so that I already felt forced after 3 records to put on the top hit Komodo by Mauro Picotto at that time, in order to get the people somehow again in a really good mood. That was one of the records you could play when nothing gin. But even that didn't really want to work at that moment.

But then this happened to me: The track Komodo was only 1 minute, the main melody hadn't even sounded yet, when the completely dusty needle ssssssssssssseeeeed slipped over the whole record under big noise to the inside. A misfortune seldom comes alone... ;-) Surprisingly, I didn't care about that at the time. I sent a short gesture of regret down to the dance floor, pulled down the fader at the mixer, freed the needle with my finger from the remarkably large dust column and then shouted to party guests: "All right, so again from the start. Needle back to the beginning of the plate, fader up again!

As soon as the first bass kick sounded, a huge cheering storm broke out on the dancefloor. From that moment on, people left like I have rarely seen before and afterwards. I could have played everything from that point on - but the party crowd would have celebrated anyway.

The last track I played that night was Love Nation. And although the title is an instrumental, the people sang the melody in the break. It was like a choir. And this choir didn't fall silent when the record was finished and the official evening was over. They kept barking the melody for minutes. I still get goose bumps tonight when I think back to this great evening.

The single Love Nation / Spacewalker was released in 1999 as vinyl on the then very renowned (and still legendary) Techno/Trance label Suck Me Plasma by Talla 2XLC, who is now also an honorary citizen of the city of Frankfurt am Main.
