Trump: We are going to put a 25% tariff on every car from the European Union
The president made the statement at a campaign rally, hours after The Wall Street Journal reported that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said he was moving back an August timeline to publish a report on auto tariffs.

So, Trump is pretending he is taxing the EU car manufacturers when he is in fact taxing Americans who want a choice of what car to buy....so, European car manufacturers sell less cars, make european workers redundant and in the same stroke, dictate to Americans what cars they are allowed to buy, by making them choose between spending more money and thus being forced to give more money to the state or by spending less money and putting loads of Americans out of work who are connect to the selling and maintenance of European cars....adding to this that the EU will retaliate with US goods with the reverse effect....

I don't agree with you.
European car manufacturers could also open factories in the USA under the conditions prevailing there (and vice versa of course).
In any case, I am surprised that this is not a fundamental prerequisite for entrepreneurial activity in foreign markets.
For workers in both economic regions (Europe and the USA), such regulations can only be beneficial because they are the ones who finally pay the price for mass imports and exports.
