Son Doong, Vietnam: World's biggest cave is even bigger than we thought | CNN Travel
Son Doong Cave in Vietnam is one of the most beautiful and largest natural caves ever found in the world. Son Doong is 9km long, 200m wide and 150m deep. Son Doong is a masterpiece of nature that everyone should admire at least once in a lifetime. (at least in my opinion).
One of the unique features of Son Doong is its unique climate conditions that create a diverse ecosystem. Therefore, even going deep underground, visitors can still encounter very strange creatures still exist. You can even see monkeys when they come down to the cave to find food.
Inside Son Doong, there are forests, clouds, rivers and creatures. Is it amazing?
Son Doong currently measures a total of 38.5 million cubic meters (about 1.35 billion cubic feet). When it's officially connected with Thung Cave, it will add an additional 1.6 million cubic meters in volume.
"It would be like someone found a lump on top of Mount Everest, making it another 1,000 meters higher," says Howard Limbert, technical advisor of the Quang Binh-based Oxalis adventure tour company and one of the cave experts who helped organize the dive.
