"IF THE BOYS CAN DO IT, THE GIRLS CAN DO IT TOO"! ...... DIY - GARBAGE BIN

Today ´s post is about a do-it-yourself mounting of the kit of a garbage bin that had to be placed under the sink in my viennese kitchen. I haven´t done a lot of DIY projects the last couple of years and this one surely added more from the existing backpains surely from the bendings. So here´s the story behind it.

The kitchen in my viennese home needed a new garbage bin. So I went out to look for one. I have been to different stores but I really did not find what I wanted. So off I went to Ikea. There were not much choices either because they only have two options and these were a galvanized can with a lid that you have to open or close manually. The second one was a hard plastic box with a white frame base that can be attached below the sink. It was with a telescopic metal that you can simply take in and out… it looked good and it had a lid so I got it.

At first, I had to gather the parts and check the kit content whether all were complete... then I begun mounting the parts and screwed the telescopic metal braces to the base of the kitchen sink.. There was a template included and in there, it tells you where to put the holes and where to screw the braces.

After a while, everything has been mounted and of course, I was happy and proud that I have done it all by myself. I dropped dead after the mounting for it took me a couple of hours of bending and had to crawl inside the base of the sink so I could screw the braces, Oh my, the space was so small I almost could not move sideways... but, I managed to screw and put the bin in its proper place. I had an abdominal pain later that evening and found out that it was caused by the lying on my back and getting my head inside the sink so that my hands became numb from screwing the braces.

The next day was a disappointment, hahaha !!! I found out that I forgot to put the last two screws to make the base stable. The braces were shaky if pulled out and then in... Huh! I was damming it because I had to unmount my work and start all over again. And luckily, the muscle pain subsided a bit and I repeated the work .... but this time, it was easier to mount under the sink because I already knew the procedures beforehand.

My patience paid off and I completed another homer project. You see, this is my DIY motto:

".....if the boys can do it , the girls can do it, too! ... "
