The Vernadsky Research Base
Diving equipment used by Ukrainian scientists working at the station Vernadsky in Antarctica.
The weight of the suit is about 150kg. If a person falls on the snow, getting up is quite difficult. Need outside help. Under the water, the orientation takes place with the help of a compass. There are difficulties with the orientation, since in some places there are magnetic anomalies that knock down the correct indication of the compass. In this case, a person is guided by light. The water is fairly clean and you can see the light coming from the surface.
For shooting the video, the Sony DCR-VX1000 Under Water Housing Camcorder Sea & Sea camera is used, slightly modified especially for shooting under water at low temperature. The temperature under water is -1.6C.

What to they investigate when diving over there?
They are exploring new species of underwater animals, as well as mapping new geographic underwater objects, such as Kay Stone rock.

Greetings from South America. Venezuela.
Hi, I'm not a diver yet. I was at a meeting with Andrei Utevsky - one of the most experienced polar explorers. I have an interview with him, but I can not decipher it because of poor quality.
Andrei Utevsky dived with the equipment and in this suit (foto) to a depth of 60 meters in the icy water at the South Pole. There are 186 dives in his account.
it's excellent. I have more than 1000 dives, but I can not imagine diving to that depth in ice water
