Wikipedia down in several countries in EU .
Censorship of the internet intensifies

poor hit hardest.
Shutting down wikipedia, what were they thinking?
government...what can you say?
Hmm, no. Wikipedia trying to influence the democratic government because they don't want to take responsibility for policing IP on their site. Given that Wikipedia itself functions as a huge censorship oligarchy where scientists regarded as authorities in their field get blacklisted by capricious mods with not even half a clue about the subject, I think as far as sensorship is concerned, Wikipedia is on the wrong side of the fight. They aren't bringing their site down in protest to government sensorship threatening our free speach, they are bringing their site down in protest of legeslation that would force them to actively protect our IP. So unless you believe copyright infringement and plagiarism are essential to free speach, you may want to reconsider what side you should pick to support on this one.
you're entitled to your opinion.
even if it's wrong.
using your reasoning anything that is said on any media, TV, NewsPaper, Movie, or Telephone that is not absolutely precise and correct(meaning in accordance with the wishes of the ruling elite) would be actionable to a government fine.
Hmm, no.
I'm on the side of freedom of expression. Wikipedia never was. I'm also on the side of protection of Copyright and Intellectual Property, again Wikipedia rather wouldn't be bothered with what they consider mere trivia.
Don't be fooled by the Wikipedia spin trying to make Wikipedia seem like free speach defenders while all they defend is their right to be intentionally lax in the protection of our IP and copyrights.
Wikipedia's problem is Social Justice Bullies, Liberals, Green Activists, and others who would pervert history and science to serve their own ends.
Wikepedia has it's problems. The BlockChain would go a long way toward solving them. Citations (of which it has many) can only go so far.
I haven't noticed it is as much of a pirate site though. Like Napster.
hmmm...yes..that may be why it's considered as threat.
It's seems to have worked..
European MEPs vote to reopen copyright debate over ‘censorship’ controversy
will common sense pervail
In Europe?
what are the chances?
It never does when Wikipedia gets involved. Just ask David Slater or Carl Hewitt.
David got screwed over by Wikipedia w.r.t. copyrights. Carl got his reputation smeared by silly clueless mods who simply had no clue to just how big an authority and pioneer of some of the models that make up modern-day computing theory Carl really is.
These guys are worse than any government elected democratically in the last 50 years if you ask me.
And no, don't go reading their stories on Wikipedia or any of the top 20 Google results. These Wikipedia guys know their stuff when it comes to making their victims look like nutcases or money wolves and getting Google results to convey their message for them.
the wikipedia model is 'open source' and 'decentralized'.
it's a new thing.
there will be some speed bumps along the way to better implementation.
one more thing.
the PURPOSE of a free media is to influence the government.
The PURPOSE of the first amendment is to prevent having to use the second.
