Sequencing the genome has been done. They have named all the nice pieces. They have almost no idea what each od these named pieces actually does.
It is like having a table of contents; and using that to tell what page 101 sentence four, word seven means in that sentence. Science is a great tool, but understanding come from experimentation. Vary one gene randomly in several samples, and observe the results, then you begin to understand that specific piece.
We have not done that. We are guessing. I am sure it is a best guess, and they will get some right, but it is still a guess.
