Perhaps we need a list..

Perhaps more than one.
......................................................................................................................................................................
Perhaps we need a list of Steemit User Names who are Plagarists
Maybe Cheetah would share?

Perhaps we need a list of Steemit User Names who are Bots?

Perhaps we need those lists
Perhaps we need more.
So we could MUTE THEM.
and never see their sorry..

pollute our news feed
AGAIN!
Perhaps we needs lists.
of those who would
Never.
EVER.
Be missed.

We need a hit list... Whack 'em! Then they go away- that's how we should mute them! (and split their steem)

Haha this is hillarious and so true. Upvote bots are exloding. I didn't count them, but I swear he probably had 10 - 15 comments on his post from these bots.

Maybe also a list of legit SteemIt users

dunno...one list would be all that's needed...bots.
if it's not on the bot list then it's legit?

Yes, to mute them, one list is sufficient. Maybe a list of active legit users could be shorter ;)
Here are some lists:

https://steemit.com/bots/@tai-euler/list-of-bots-on-steemit
https://steemit.com/steem-project/@jesta/big-list-of-bots-who-reply-to-posts-on-steem
Someone could provide and update a raw list and develop a script to mute them.

@ned seems to not be very interested in numbers of actual users, from correspondence with him regarding this issue.

I am.

I reckon a list of actual humans would be possible, verifiable, and allow us to 'whitelist' those folks. New users would automatically, then, be suspect until they establish their MO. Those on the list, however, could also change their ways, and need to be removed.

This could be done when such actions reveal their altered MO.

Making a list of bots is presently impossible, as there are many users that have left, and abandoned their accounts, and some folks just don't post or comment, and essentially act as a bot.

Active posters and commenters, about 20% of total accounts presently, per @paulag, is a list that is creatable.

That might be the best way.
I'm hoping someone does it soon.
All I can do is be very careful about who I follow.

See SMT whitepaper for "Whitelist Oracles." I am very interested! N

That is good news. I have been waiting to see you address the other points we discussed, and yet hope. The potential control of witnesses must caution parties considering using the Steem blockchain, whose fortunes will be at stake.

Please do not fail to let me know.

Thanks!

I could start building this list. I did speak with steam cleaners before about collaborating with the Steemit Business intelligence community and this is something we could work on as a team.

@valued-customer I will dm you on discord later to discuss this further. i will need to look at the SMT whitepaper first @ned to see exactly what you are referring too

Will Steemit be adopting a 'verified' account wherein if a user posts his id and his photo, the account is handled as legit and will have different set of rights?

Then perhaps this can be considered as a whitelist?

I mean this may not be posted publicly, perhaps there will be a separate page (settings or profile) where a user can submit these documents similar to how airbnb does it.

Use your downvote button that is what its for or report them to the steemitabuse channel in steem.chat they are there for that look in my blog yesterday i posted an article about the proper use of the downvote

the proper use of the downvote
would be YOUR opinion.
Other's milage may vary.

Autovoting is technically botting. Making a list of bots isn't too hard but making a list of all the accounts that are botting (autovoting) through a service or through their own private bots would be nearly impossible, particularly as voting patterns change with each hard fork. Those types of bots readjust for maximum profit on a regular basis.

Cheetah's list is easy to pull in comparison and generally-speaking.

the term curation as it is used in Steemit is to evaluate and upvote that which has value
Only humans can do that.
by that definition all voting bots are gaming (scamming) the system.

not only that...just today I happened upon an account which said
"this post was autogenerated by a bot"

You are correct in that. Originally those bots were created to upvote at the exact right time (30 mins) because humans were unable to do so with needed precision to max profit. If the optimal curation time was never introduced as a thing there'd be a lot fewer bots around.

unintended consequences...you can NEVER do just ONE thing.

Indeed. I'm wondering what the next wave will be.

i like your post. salan know me from Steemian from Indonesia. hope you are healthy always

I want to be in your list.

lol. are these bots dangerous... i mean they can see our wallets and all.

Everyone can see whats in your wallet. that's kind of the idea of Open Ledgers.

Does that make us vonerable to the bots. I see there are lots of scams.

Well they do know who to target. But if you think twice before clicking edgy links. Then their shouldn't be a risk.
