I for one like Discord. I like that groups with common interest can come together, can have multiple channels within a discord server for presenting information or subtopic convos going on and can have voice chats while referring to text chat channels.
Yeah.. Nothing wrong with that. Im just saying that those things should exist on the STEEM blockchain. When the vast majority of social activity is migrated to Discord then the existence of STEEM social media apps is pointless.
It means that beyond a shadow of a doubt, the social aspect of STEEM is exaggerated and a forced idea.
Having all those things Discord offers is great, as i said above, someone should re-create those things here... Whats not great is having 95% of engagement between Steemians happening elsewhere.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. It can be both. If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple as that.

the fact is your want list is not going to happen overnight .. nor likely in the next few months or years. FB, Twitter, Pintrest etc didn't appear fully formed, in fact they were pretty lame when they started.
So, you can do your wish list all you want but people will congregate where they can interact as they want. Some ability to engage other than in comments is developing but that is all going to take time.
Partiko apparently has some chat in app available. That's great except it is only usable by those using Andriod which excludes IOS users.
Actifit encourages use of the blockchain for their offchain activity as people need to post their daily reports to get the rewards.
When the long promised communities feature arrives, some of what is being done on Discord might move off to the communities on Steem or they may do both. It really depends on their needs.
I also post on Medium and like on Steem the only way to get to know others is within the limits of the commenting system. So, FB groups form which is marginally better than in the comment section but not much. Unlike Steem, I've yet to come across people creating Discords or something like that on Medium which I find too bad as it removes a way to get to know the folks in my network.
Eventually YOUR want list might be met. In the meantime, as I said before, I like and appreciate that there are tools to hand to enchance MY Steem experience. I like that I can partake in things like Steem related online radio shows and writing workshops done in voice channels.
