Diving Into Photography 01 - Introducing myself, and my new Steemit series..
Diving Into Photography 01 - Introduction
Hey all. I'm Declan, a freelance photographer from Dublin, Ireland. I shoot everything from portraits to macro, fashion, street, products.
In this post, I'd like to introduce my new Steemit series - Diving Into Photography. If you'd like to know more about me, please check out my personal introduction post here.
In the coming weeks, I'll be posting various articles to help beginners dive into photography. My plan is to cut back on the usual technical jargon in photography training, and concentrate on fun, practical and bite-sized chunks of information.
Here are some of the many topics I'll be covering:
- choosing a camera
- lenses
- aperture and shutter speed
- exposure
- accessories
- composition
- macro
- portraits
- off-camera flash
- editing
Photography is one of the most popular tags here on Steemit and I know a lot of people are going to be inspired to get involved. I chose the name "Diving Into Photography" because that's exactly what I want to encourage - Don't procrastinate or overthink about gear or settings. You need to get inspired, dive in, and learn from both your mistakes and triumphs.
I'm hoping to get as much feedback and suggestions as possible along the way. That includes criticism. I think the best creatives are hard on themselves and take criticism on board. So whatever it is, hit me, and I'll do my best to improve next time.
I'd like to thank the following people for their hospitality and encouragement in my first couple of weeks on Steemit:
@begstreets, @kryptik, @jamtaylor, @klye, @benji, @thuckfheman
Finally, I'll leave you with some examples of my recent work.
Part 2 is out. Click here.
Those are some excellent shots @condra. Are they all yours?
I'm looking forward to your post on "Choosing a Camera" I know that there are many folks who are brand loyal to their cameras. Typically because it's the brand they've matured with, but also the lenses compatibility.
Hi there. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, they're all my shots.
I've never been very brand loyal. I switched from Canon to Nikon, though I later learned it really wasn't necessary. All of the major brands these days make some excellent cameras, though it's true to say Nikon and Canon still have the widest range of lenses and accessories. Anyway thanks for your comment. More soon!

Nice work. You'll probably be successful here. Good luck.
