Digibyte & Arcane Bear

Thanks to discussions we have had recently with Tijo (Arcane Bear), we have decided we are going to go back and help the people in Venezuela who are in need!

One of our community members, DGBSoCal, has put together a short video for us, and I would like to open with it to show you what our plan is:

A brief history:

We donated a lot of DigiByte for people in Venezuela to use as we were working on a proposal that we submitted to David Hay, so that he would use DigiByte as part of his SOS Venezuela project. What we told him was to just use the funds we gave to wherever he saw the need, and to whoever needed help the most.

David was able to donate to the Red Cross 1,000 bottles of water, and enough food so that 160 children in an orphanage could be fed for a month.

We did our best to be low-key about the donations, because we didn't want to cause any issues with the SOS Venezuela project or have others assume that DigiByte has been selected as the project's blockchain. However, we were still able to accomplish a lot!

We then went back and on the second round donated a bunch of brand new equipment to a Venezuelan school. Tables, paper and pens, tablet computers, and other general items. It was a fantastic result.

At that time I put out a call to other blockchains that has also sent David Hay proposals to ask them to also contribute something tangible. It is really great seeing Nano joining in on the outreach efforts and also helping out Venezuela.

The cover for our SOS Venezuela projection submissions was also translated into Spanish.

With all of this out of the way, Arcane Bear and us would like to return to Venezuela and want it to be even better and bigger!

###What is the plan?

We are going to join forces with Venezuelan MonkeyCoin Exchange and also help Tijo (Arcane Bear) when he is in Venezuela, with meeting people, getting around and much more. MonkeyCoin is going to help with handling the DGB to Bolivar transfer as well (so we can easily get items for people in Venezuela), and they looking to add DigitByte to their Exchange also.

Venezuela and DigiByte

Arcane Bear is going to go into the community, to help outreach programs, churches, orphanages, and others. The more we able to raise, the greater impact we can have on a country that is suffering from outrageous hyperinflation levels.

We would like to build on our last two philanthropic journeys that we did over the past 4 months with David Hay, and take things up a level. This is where Arcane Bear is coming in!

They will also be taking a crew with them to assist with distributing aid in the community, security, filming, and other types of help.

Speaking with Tijo, the more that can be raised, the greater our impact can be. The average minimum wage is $8 per month (that isn't a typo, yes $8 per month), which is less than how much a 'venti' coffee costs per week, we would like to bring not only some happiness to these people's lives, but some aid, relief, and perhaps some hope also!

How much are we trying to raise?

Over the past two, so far we have raised about $10,000 USD in DigiByte. For this one venue, I would like to raise this again.

I think it possible to raise 250,000 DigiByte quite easily. On the previous ones, we were able to raise funds easily, so I am confident we can hit this one out of the ballpark very quickly. However, after we have reached our goal (and I'm very confident that we will), I don't want us to quit giving.

Speaking with Arcane Bear, big plans are already in place for whatever we are able to exceed it by. I have spoken with Tijo to discuss what we can do if the goal is doubled, and how much good that would do for the Venezuelan people, so it is very exciting! This is so much better than what any whitepaper could do, and this is genuine real-world results that we are talking about.

The Arcane Bear crew is going to also be there along with cameras to share what is happening and at the end of their journey there will make a video for us. The more generous the community is with their contributions, the more they will be able to do once they are in Venezuela, and they will be able to send back more footage to us after they have distributed the funds that have been raised.

Beyond donations

On DigiByte's behalf, I have put a proposal together for SOS Venezuela and David Hay on why they should use DigiByte locally there. Part of the outreach will involve education also and some of the DigiByte donation to the people will be for showing them how using a more stable DigiByte can allow the Venezuelan people to eliminate their dependence on the failing Bolivar.

That is a long-term solution, in addition to the immediate/short-term relief and aid!

The goal is a minimum of 250,000 DigiByte. It would be great if we can do 300,000 DigiByte. Even better would be 400,000 DigiByte!

The more we are able to contribute, the more government and community influencers we will be able to meet with, and it will allow us to do even more good, and it will help them to start to use a DigiByte wallet on their phones (which I want to add is available natively in Spanish) and much more!
