The Impact of Diet and Exercise on Gene Expression - [Rhonda Patrick]
Dr. Rhonda Patrick, a mentee of Professor Bruce Ames, is known for her work on vitamin D, and not only.
More recently, she's been known for her podcast where she invites respected scientists like: Dr. Satchi Panda of the Salk Institute, Dr. Dominic D'Agostino of USF, Dr. Eric Verdin of the Buck Institute and many others.
I listened to many of her interviews both on my phone podcast app and also on Youtube. Some of them are almost two hours long and if you're not fond on research jargon, this might not be for you.
She's also been invited to speak to numerous conferences, one of which I'm going to suggest today to watch. I'm talking about the Paleo F(x) for which Dr. Patrick gave a talk, back in 2014. They've only recently posted these talks on their Youtube channel.
Among the research interests of Dr. Patrick, one of them is epigenetics and how diet, exercise, and hypertermia influences gene expression.
Most people (probably the majority) have no idea about the implications of their diet on gene expression. They think that food has no influence on us other than keeping us alive. Sadly, this ignorance leads many people into poor health. Even more sadly is that getting sick, most never think of dietary or lifestyle modifications that should be implemented to improve their condition.
Leaving you with this idea in mind, I suggest watching the talk that Dr. Patrick gave, a talk in which she develops this rationale further.

I actually saw her first on Joe Rogan's podcast. Most of her podcasts are a bit long for me, listened to some but am not a podcast guy, but I do follow her twitter account for various articles and health and nutrition.
Out of curiosity do you supplement vitamin D? In winter at least I get about 2500 IU per day
Yes, there is vitamin D in my cod liver oil. About 1200 IU per day :)
Indeed, many people have no idea about the implications of their diet on gene expression. As you said, many believe food is just to keep us alive. It is a very interesting video.
Sun, food, meditation and sauna :) I take care of them for the care of my body/mind/spirit. Below a silly little song that I've learned in the rainbow festivals
Made my day :)
You are what you eat, from gene to skin.
I am among those people who eat any crezend as food does not harm, but the older I see that eating stupidly gives me fatigue and pains of all kinds, so I'm already thinking of changing these bad habits
A balance diet provide you health, confident and a good physical appearance.. excellent article
