Die Marienkirche ist eine evangelische Kirche und liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe des Fernsehturms in Berlin Mitte. Sie gehört zu den ältesten noch genutzten Kirchenbauten in Berlin. Das Erbauungsjahr wird um 1270 geschätzt, erstmals wurde sie am 3. Januar 1292 urkundlich als Pfarrkirche erwähnt.
Die Grundmauern der Marienkirche bestehen aus Feldsteinen, darüber wurden aus roten Ziegeln im Stil der märkischen Backsteingotik das Kirchenschiff gebaut.
Backsteingotik: unterscheidet sich von den meisten anderen Baustilen dadurch, dass hier ein Stil über den Baustoff (Backstein) definiert worden ist; setzte in Nordeuropa im 12. Jahrhundert ein)
Die evangelische Kirchengemeinde St. Petri-St. Marien ist seit dem Ende des 20 Jahrhunderts die dazugehörige Gemeinde der Marienkirche(Gebäude).
