Despite I am writing in German here, I am able to answer in English.
The problem of Colonialism was 1st its nature of conquest and exploitation, 2nd it could not be removed in a controlled and positive way, because the European Empires went to war two times in the 20th century.
I am very much in favor of more liberty and validity of natural rights for all people and all individual human beings in this world. As far as I know the countries in Southeast Asia are in a very different situation compared to Europe. In Europe there are still lots of wealth from past generations, we partly live on this substance and we do lots of administration. But it is dangerous to spend savings, eventually nothing will be left except a lot of debt. An additional fact is that Europe does not have many young people, the situation is similar in South Korea or Japan.
In many other countries there is no savings from older generations. The infrastructure could be improved a lot, many more businesses which satisfy local needs could be established. This process will take time and I am not able to estimate how long it will take. But there is a lot of knowledge an technology available which was not there back when Europe's countries became empires, so my hope is, that all countries who educate their people in freedom and respect for each other, will improve much faster. And I hope as well, that they will be wise enough not to go to war.
