Actually I do not think that any religion has to be respected. Because first you have to define what a religion is. If it is a confession, which is personal to the individual human being and fills the individual's life with value and guidance, then it is fine. If it is used politically to apply coercion on others it should not be accepted, but challenged.

And there are a lot of quite power-hungry religions, or pseudo-religions, as well known under the term ideologies.
