TIL: New definition of wasp waists ! // Neudefinition von Wespentaille
Longtime (and probably still) a wasp waist is something especially men like to see. A beauty standard for sexual market value. Once this was quite unhealthy because it was done in a mechanical way by corsets and girdles : Wasp Waist on Wikipedia
Today we talk about wasp waists when a woman has a big backside while having a slim waistline. Very subjectively: If this looks natural, it looks VERY nice ;-)
While being in Croatia, I observed an insect, not knowing what it was, defining this totally new:
This is a Sceliphron caementarium
An animal that eats nectar and feeds spiders to his offspring. Quite practical if you don't like spiders.
Unfortunately this insect is an immigrant from America, driving away more and more native species.
Still it is a beauty to watch!
all pics are my originals shot with Lumix G70

in the picture, they are doing there job to get more food for them...
we should learn form them..
well... this could be misinterpreted ;-) (at least they are "immigrants", pushing away natives, so not sure, if we should learn from that behaviour)
