As some of you already noticed, I had to pull out about 3 weeks ago our beautiful 20 year old box tree hedge. Blame was the east asian box tree moth 🐛 (Cydalima perspectalis), which made life difficult for her ...

Anyway, yesterday we finally had some rain after weeks of waiting, so ideal conditions to plant the new cherry laurel hedge.

In diesem How-To werde ich euch zeigen, wie man vernünftig eine neue Hecke in euren (vor) Garten einpflanzen kann.

Wie einige von euch schon mitbekommen haben, musste ich vor etwa 3 Wochen unsere schöne 20 Jahre alte Buchsbaumhecke herausreißen. Schuld war der ostasiatische Buchsbaumzünsler 🐛 (Cydalima perspectalis), welcher ihr das Leben schwer gemacht hat...

Wie dem auch sei, gestern hatten wir endlich mal wieder seit Wochen ein bisschen Regen, also ideale Bedingungen um die neue Kirschlorbeere Hecke einzupflanzen.

Heute geht es darum eine neue einzupflanzen.🌱

Dafür muss im ersten Schritt der Boden vorbereitet werden.
Nehmt euch eine Harke und seht zu, dass alle störenden alten Wurzeln entfernt werden.

*Das Ergebnis sollte nun feiner Boden sein.
Wenn ihr die alten Wurzeln leichter entfernen wollt, dann könnt ihr auch alles mit einem Spaten ordentlich umgraben.

💡Before the new hedge is planted, the old soil needs some new nutrients. You can buy in the hardware store potting soil for that step. The new soil should be then mixed with the old soil, preferably take a rake or a shovel.

💡Bevor nun die neue Hecke eingepflanzt wird, benötigt der alte Boden noch ein paar neue Nährstoffe. Im Baumarkt gibt es dafür extra Pflanzenerde. Diese arbeitet ihr am besten mit einem Harke oder einer Schaufel in die alte Erde ein.

Nun ist alles bereit die neue Hecke einzupflanzen. Nehmt Maß, ihr werden etwa 2-3 Pflanzen pro Meter benötigen.

In diesem Schritt grabt ihr einen kleinen Graben. Die Tiefe sollte ungefähr die Höhe des Wurzelballens der neuen Hecke betragen.

💡Und ganz wichtig ist es hier, dass ihr die neuen Pflanzen direkt einschlämmt. Dadurch schließt sich der Bereich um die Wurzeln am besten und die Hecke erhält direkt wertvolles Wasser zum wachsen.
