The reason for creating my blogsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #depression4 years ago

Hello Steemians,

because I have had depression for round about 15 years of my life and the experiences I’ve had due to it, I chose to make this blog. Back when I was depressed, I was looking for blogs or posts that showed how someone else with depression felt, but also gives advice on how to deal with it. I never found what I was looking for, therefore I wanted to create this, in case someone else is also looking for something like this.

After experiencing depression first hand and having immense trouble dealing with it, let alone understand it, I wanted to create what I was looking for, but never found.

This blog has multiple purposes:

  • To help people suffering from depression through methods I have learned over the years. To help them feel understood by sharing my own eperiences, thoughts and emotions I had during my depression

  • To raise awareness for the severity of depression and its complexity. I want to show people who have never had anything to do with depression, what depression does to a person. Most people hear the word depression, but have very little knowledge about this mental illness.

  • To inform people why awareness for depression is extemely important. Depressed people get influenced immensly by their surroundings, but the people around them have the largest impact. If a person is unaware, they can potentially make an individual who is suffering from depression worse just by saying a sentence, or saying nothing at all.

  • To help people suffering from depression, how to deal with the symptoms, the daily struggles of life and to show them: You CAN be free from depression. There is more than hope, you can literally get rid of depression and find yourself again. This is essential to know, to get rid of depression and get your life back.

  • To show depressed people they are strong. Each invdividual suffering from depression has their own duration of their depression. No matter how long it has been, weeks, months, years or even decades. The duration is proof for their stenghth, holding on, not giving up. Depression makes one feel pitiful, lonely and weak, but the truth is, these people are strong, durable and not alone. This is also extremely important to realise!

In my opinion depression is a civilization disease. People are more conntected all across the world through social media, but there is little to none personal interaction in the “real world“. Families drift farther apart, divorce rates are higher nowadays and it has become quite common for family members to move far away from their birth place or hometown. Friends communicate more over social media than face-to-face interactions. We are literally becoming lonelier through technological progress.

Families used to stick together, live close to each other and catch each others fall. Nowadays that tight family bond no longer or rarely exists. For example if someone dies, some family members even decide to distance themselves from the immediate family members of the deceased, because they don’t know how to deal with the situation.

The way we deal with interpersonal relationships have become distant and cold in comparison to when we lived in small communities where helping each other was essential for survival. In our society today it is hard to find help when needed and even our neighbors are strangers.

Humanity (from humane) is decreasing and people drift farther apart.

We end up living in small social groups (with few real friends) or in large groups where we don’t know who will be there for us in a crisis. True friendship has become rare and special.

I want to help with my blog. Our hearts were born with the same emotions our society had in the past, therefore it is important to learn how to deal with depression and how to avoid it. The people suffering from depression are increasing!

I sincerely wish for all Steemians to understand what I am trying to do here and for all of us to stick together! We are a large community and we have the potential to thrive, if we all help each other out and create a strong and stable community. I believe this will also create a good environment for new members.

Fühlen Sie sich frei, in der Sprache zu schreiben, die Sie wollen, oder wie jetzt nur zum Spaß! :)

Hey @cryptokannon, did you make the showcase and I just missed it? I am really excited. 😁🤗

Hi @rashia there were little changes on steemingcurators management, I don't decide what to be on the showcase anymore as it is solely managed by @ciska now. I only help some tasks that specifically assigned to me. I think you should create a community for your mission on steem community. Then start posting there and invite others to give their input. Do you know how to create a community? I can send you 3 steem a fee to create a community.

Hi Rashia, thank you so much for sharing your reason for blogging. I hope you have found in Steemit what you missed in life and we are excited to have you here and be able to help you! I wish you all the best, heads up, you are a rockstar! 💪

I am happy I created what I never found when I needed it. Now that I am rid of depression I just wish to show others the way out.

I am so happy to be a part of this community, it's so hard to describe. I have found amazing people here, the community is so supportive and honest. I just love it!

Thank you so much, I wish you the best!🥰

And you did that by yourself, so it must give you an enormously strong boost in your self-esteem! Proud of you. It is always nice to see people who have struggles get over it, and then help others in need. Bless you

The best self esteem boost was finding myself again after 15 years of depression! Now I am just following the path I have chosen and staying the strong person I was before depression.

Thank you very much, I am proud of myself as well. ❤😊

I believe every one can overcome their struggles they just need the right path and right support! Thank you very much. I hope more people help eachother in the future. I wish for a future where people are more humane again. ❤🥰

I wish you the best and thank you so much for your comments and support!

Everything you said have remembered me this book by Darian Leader, The New Black. Mourning, Melancholia and Depression. More or less he refers to the actual situation on human interactions and how mourning is a natural process that very few understand, but which we are living day by day.

Your blog will be a great source of information, experiences and care. I'm sure you will meet all your goals!!

Best wishes for projects and life, dear @Rashia!!

@cryptokannon use this post. Sorry that it's so late. I couldn't make it sooner 😔

@rashia thank you for taking time putting all this together, appreciate it. This is like community effort you do it when you have a chance, I understand we all have our real-life obligations. 😊 Thanks again for your contribution to the steem community. Steem on!

That's true, but I want to stick to what I say as much as possible. I had told you for 2 days I would do this. I worked on 3 posts yesterday lol. This week is busy, but I will still do my best so my words are reliable.

And thanks to you, you've helped me again. If you hadn't said you want to present me on the showcase, I probably would have never made a post like this. I am glad I did though, thanks again. ❤🥰

Hi @rashia Thank you for your post! You got upvoted by the @steemingcurators with massive help from @steemcurator02 Steem Community Curation Project by Steemit Inc!
