How I’d like to spend the next year...

in #deepshit7 years ago (edited)

I’ve had an idea like this for quite some time but it seems the time to live it out had not arrived. Thanks to steemit, it’s starting to look more and more feasible, and I want you to know where some of your upvotes may end up going when you support me.

This is a rough plan but I hope it can go something like this:

I’d like to organize a kind of performance/workshop tour for small venues like cafes and art spaces (20-40 people), very informal, and travel around, meeting steemit friends along the way. The exact nature of the workshop will remain under wraps for now but I’d like it to be rather loosely planned with a few different choices to experiment with, we could potential have 4-10 events in the same location over 2-4 weeks and not run out of material. I still have back issues so I’m still not sure this will go according to plan but I’d like to do whatever I can do accomplish as much as possible. I hope that steemit and a pay-what-you-want system at the events (cash/BTC) could help me pay for this so your support is always appreciated :-)

Worst case scenario I do this next year or the year after that but I will do it.

I like it up there

The purpose of the event will be to connect with different art scenes and collectives, share ideas about how to live on our own terms and to share our art and creativity with each other. Obviously I will be mentioning steemit to people I meet.

June

June will be about preparing myself for these events. It’ll first require me to get my songs ready. I’ll also need to open up a bit on social media, probably reveal a bit more of myself and get used to talking with voice chat more, perhaps doing more dsound, both talk and music. This is a big challenge for me, I’ve never enjoyed watching or listening to myself but I need to get used to it. I’m also going to have to get used to public speaking outside of the context of the classroom and predictable live performances. This kind of event is going to require me to guide people a bit and talk a lot more than past performances.

I’ve also got to practice the material beyond my own songs, which include lectures, activities, etc. oh and I’ve got to raise the money for this project, hopefully steemit will help with that.

July - August

I plan to do a test run in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Hong Kong should be easy because I am intimately familiar with it and have a large network of friends there.

September-October

Rest and get back to physical therapy to prepare my body for some unfamiliar places and some more travel than I’ve been used to the sat few years. I’ll also have a chance to reassess the nature of the workshops/performances. I’ll also focus on writing and possibly recording at this time and perfecting everything.

November - December

I’d like to try this out in some places in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia (so I can visit @macchiata) and Thailand (because Thailand), possibly elsewhere nearby. 10-14 days in each city.

January - February

Rest, massage, prepare new material.

March - April

I’d love to spend two months in Japan....more than anything actually. I lived there 5 years and I’m looking for an opportunity to relocate there. With this kind of event I hope I could get familiar with the art scene because it’s been so long, I need to reconnect and figure out how I could get my ass over there again. This may require a lot of money so I hope crypto and steemit come through! I’d love to get to know the steemit community in japan better and to hold this kind of event in 5-6 locations over the course of 2 months. Tokyo and Osaka would be easy, Niigata if @kafkanarchy84 is up for it, and then hopefully some places I’ve never been in Shikoku and Kyuushuu.

May

India! 1 month in 2-3 locations.

June- July

Rest.

Beyond

Hopefully by that time, I’ve turned this project into something easily sustainable and hopefully my body will be ready for some further travel....I’d love to make it to Europe, particularly Portugal and Romania to visit certain steemians, but anywhere with a bed for me to sleep in will work.

I have no idea how things will play out, this is just an ideal plan right now but I’d like to start putting it in motion and see what happens. What do you think? If you know any casual venues or communities that would be excited to host this kind of event, let me know. If you’d like to tag along for a stop or two let me know. All support is super ultra appreciated.

Wow. That sounds very exciting @whatamidoing. I look forward to watching all this unfold.

I'm hoping that one day, travelling around and meeting other Steemians, will be on my agenda too. 😊

Looks like potential for a lot of fun times :D If you swing down my way let me know and I'll work on your back for a bit XP

Ahh that’d be amazing. Yeah, I’d love to meet your whole team of lion cubs!

An awesome idea.

I know I'm one of the people you're planning to visit in Portugal and I am very much looking forward to meeting up with you.

And if you can't make it - although I expect you can - I will make sure to visit you wherever you are :>)

@whatamidoing... You are fucking awesome.

I wish you the best of luck with this journey, given that it works out this year! The arts communities in the PNW that I'm familiar with (Bellingham, Seattle, Olympia) would certainly be receptive to this sort of event. There's so many cafes, bars, bookstores, and venues that would love this kind of thing. It seems that your schedule is pretty full already, but if you end up here in Olympia or the NW Washington area, I have a couch you can crash on x)

That would be really incredible! I’m from the east coast originally but when I had a 9-5, I never had the time and after I quit I have never have the money to properly explore my own country. I would love to steemit couchsurf as well and meet up with you :-D Hopefully this year things will start to turn around, I expect they will.

@whatamidoing, I assume we'll meet in Malaysia? despite I am currently residing in Indonesia :-D and that is a very awesome plan! make sure to prepare you back :))

Did I do it again....I don’t want to look up..... omg....
