Introducing Decenternet: Blockchain Solution to Net Neutrality

in #decenternet6 years ago (edited)

Right now, we find ourselves at a pivotal point in history where corporations and governments control virtually every aspect of our lives from the information we read to the products we buy because they have spent countless dollars to put their agenda in front of us.

Here’s the thing:

Pioneers are rapidly gaining ground with technological advancements that will give control back to the individual in many areas of life from banking transactions, to Internet browsing, to the content that we choose to see rather than what is chosen for us.

Instead of being monitored by every electronic device that we use in our daily lives, we can now have the freedom to pursue life on our own terms by simply choosing to do so. By stepping out of the box that we have been forced into, we can find the light again.

And who doesn’t want to live in the light with an open and expanded mind?

What is Net Neutrality?

In the United States, net neutrality has been a hot button issue with the media the past few months but many don’t actually understand what the term means.

Net neutrality is a premise that Internet service providers (ISPs) will treat all data and information on the Internet equally and without bias such as: type of content, website, user, application, platform, or communication method.

Without the enforcement of net neutrality, ISPs could block certain websites, slow down loading of them, or charge users extra just to access them.

If corporations were to pay extra to the ISPs, they could ensure their content was put in front of a user first and the “little guys” on the Internet would virtually never be seen because they cannot compete financially with the big fish corporations.

Why Decenternet is the Future of the Internet

Enter Decenternet (Dnet), a peer-to-peer decentralized, independent internet platform claiming to be “unbound by politics and oppression,” according to their website.

Features of this new platform:
• Cheaper than current platforms
• Many times faster
• Protects user privacy
• Boasts an easy-to-use user experience with 100% going towards constant improvements for the end user
• Promotes net neutrality worldwide rather than leaving it in the hands of individual governments
• Refusal to sell out to the highest corporate bidder for control like current offerings have done
• Completely free with profits being delivered directly to peer groups without need of a middle man; increases end profit for peer group
• Self-sustaining network using a highly incentivized “Spyce” mining concept available for anyone to use

Because this resource belongs to the people and not to any one entity (government or corporate), it seems that privacy would be the number one priority of this decentralized space.

No more cyber stalking by “Big Brother,” like searching for a product to purchase online like a new toaster and then not being able to run away from the ads for toasters for months, even after you have purchased the product.

We will still be able to see the same content that we do now. This won’t change any websites that we like to frequently visit currently. In fact, it should expedite the rate that we see the content and prevent our personal information from being sold to third parties without our permission.

Bringing Decenternet to Life

Economic activities on the Decenternet platform will be made using “Spyce.” Spyce is a digital, minable currency focused on harmonizing with established cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Spyce will be used to purchase apps, products, hosting, or for payments to others users.

There is a limit to how much Spyce can be mined. By doing this, the creators are eliminating the possibility of hyperinflation that exists with government-backed fiat currencies around the world.

This platform is still in development phase with a release date in Q4 2019 for testing according to the company roadmap. Change is coming, will you be ready for it?

Net neutrality is a very important issue that will affect everyone sooner or later (unless you're someone living off the grid on a remote island or similar). Really good to know that there are projects out there trying to help combat this. Thanks for the information @socent

yes, @crypt0rhodes, it is very true! exciting times!

Very exciting! I agree!

Perfect blog @socent. I am sure after reading this, everyone will have a decent idea about what Dnet aims to achieve and how it can help with the current problems of Net Neutrality and Data Privacy. Cheers!

Thanks for such a wonderful comment! Dnet seems to be an awesome project and I'm so excited to watch the progression of this team as they work together to bring this one to life. Net neutrality should be more mainstream and belong to the people and not the governments anymore.
