A few times a year, I have the luxury of being invited to help host parties at special events. In this post, I'll be sharing some of my experiences and photos at a national fraternity reunion.

As a dance instructor, my team was invited to help get the party started for the late night music and dancing. In most of these photos you can see people partnering up for various dances such as slow dance, swing, cha cha, disco hustle, freestyle.

Even though I did not know most of the people here, I was surprised how many of them were dancers and super confident in their own skin. More than I! I was introduced to dance with four other women through the night, and that really made me feel more like part of the group.

Some of the older gentlemen from the fraternity seemed to be egging eachother on, to see who could be the biggest ham when the freestyling started. They would call eachother out into the circle and do comedic impressions of The Robot, Michael Jackson, The Pelvis Pop, The Shake, The Jacket Strip, and The Strut. These guys were likely an inspiration for movies like Animal House, back in the day when they were in college. Thankfully they haven't lost that spirit. Everything was being videoed, encouraging them even more to behave badly in front of their wives and family.

Before attending, my team had to relearn various line-dances to help lead at the party. We danced Saturday Night Fever a.k.a. The Brooklyn Shuffle, The Cupid Shuffle, The Cha Cha Slide, Chilly Cha Cha, Jack is Back, The Wobble, and a couple others I picked up at the event from others.

The catering at this event was classic #Filipino cuisine, including the roasted boar.

All these events took place at a beautiful park campus at the Fort Vancouver site in Washington.

Guest Alumni we performing various talents and giving speeches and slideshow presentations. It was very organic and self-organized by all of them together.

They closed the night down with one of their son's who was a trained singer. He started out singing a jazzy version of a classic soft rock song. People loved his buttery smooth vocals, and demaned an encore, so he followed up with a sing-along to Just the Way You Look Tonight.

This was when the real hilarity of the night began! Maybe I'll share a video in another post, because the men started tossing money at his feet, and after a few seconds of singing, he already had earned hundreds of dollars! Everybody loved this kid, and wanted him to succeed and not give up on this talent.

He closed with an upbeat rendition of This Love. When the older men kept returning again and again to toss out the dough in various entertaining ways while the young man sang, they would come up with silly ways to embarrass themselves, their family, and the singer. How many places will those twenty dollar bills fit?

This was a rare opportunity to attend. Everything ended on a more positive note than before. Even though not everything was perfectly planned, because there were so many unpredictable factors going in, the community came together to make the best experience for all, and that is what matters. Making memories and having some fun together, right?

I managed to sneak in a selfie with the other instructors before the events started. Wishing you all my best!

Looks like a good time was had by all :) Probably makes your task much easier with a group of "enthusiastic" partiers.

Certainly.

With most gigs, I have to tread really carefully to avoid getting mixed up trying to create a dance social at events where the majority have no interest in dancing. It is best to only do this for events where the majority are already social dancers.

Bendición a Venezuela.

Dancing really makes the mood of anyone uplifted and these kinds of events should never be missed as it creates fine memories to share and remember @creativetruth

Indeed a special event. I have not joint such an event for years except for a wedding dinner which mostly talked about eating and drinking. Nor partying though
Lately, I have not been active in Steemit I check and stay for a few minutes unlike those active months
Anyway, thanks for you upvote to my latest post I published 2 days ago. It is a nice flower, right ?

Until then, cheers

Yeah, if I see a flower I've never seen before that is colorful and healthy like that I, I like to give a good vote of confidence for the photographer. Good job taking a shot of that flower. It definitely deserved a photo opportunity to share.

We got pretty lucky with this event. Most weddings I go to lately, most people don't even know how to dance, and don't really want to try. Here, most people knew what to do, and wanted to keep dancing to all the silliest songs.

Congratulations @creativetruth! You have received a personal award!
