ⒶⒷⓇⒶⒽⒶⓂ - nothing wrong with no emotion
You will always, almost always, most of you, choose negative emotion over no emotion. Because emotion indicates desire. It’s exciting!

My pleasure to support her! Had no idea it was your daughter ;)
Yes, this quote also got me thinking! No emotion is a tricky one unless we are in a state of meditation. Every image which gifts our eyes has an emotional response attached to it, so it seems like it must take a fair amount of practice to able to maintain an absence of emotion throughout the day.
This was a bit short... I believe that yes, nagative feeling is better than no feeling because it hurts when there is nothing.
Actually that's a reason why some people self-harm. Something happens that makes their mind close all the feeling, and they injure themselves just to "feel" something.
When we are in a deep state of mediation there is no emotion. Just an awareness of existence. Go deep enough and even this disappears along with our concept of time & pain. This place is not to be feared for it is the most peaceful place we can go which reminds us of where we came from before we adopted physical bodies.
If it hurts when there is nothing, it means there is something. And this something needs examining. Once all 'blocks' have been removed, only beauty remains.
I think we were talking about different types of Nothingness, what you describe I call "peace." Lovely emotion to have.
The mind wants constant stimulation and fluctuation to fuel the various stories. No emotion is good because it's got a lot of clarity and openness. It's not likely that we will feel 'nothing' for very long, because life naturally brings changes of states.
You're right about that. Life is so full of events which trigger emotional responses in us and it takes some serious practice to let go of this.
That would explain why all the "news" is usually bad, it gets the people going!
haha! You know it. Which is why I gave up watching the news!
Me too, I got tired of yelling at the TV.
