The Wicked Denies God
BIBLE READING:
Psalm 53: 1-6

DISCUSSION:
That the fool rejects God in his heart (v. 1) means that he may not necessarily claim to be an atheist. Many people in our continent claim to believe in God but fail to obey Him. Instead, they engage in all kinds of of evil and ungodly actions. Their belief in God does not show in their way of life. Instead, according to Romans 1: 21-24, they turn to idolatry and seek refuge in the powers of darkness. On the other hand, many lives in fear and so surround themselves with armed guards and various kinds of charms. This is why God despises them because He knows that they are deceiving themselves.
So what should be our attitude to them? Read Psalm 15:4a; 37:1-4. Notice the particular acts that displease God according to vs. 2-4 (compare Proverbs 14:31). How much of these do you need today and how do they affect you? Read v.6 again and consider how you or your Church can make a difference in this respect.
