Cafe Review 美食推送: Coco Cubano

On Easter Saturday we took a bunch of kids out to watch Peter Rabbit. After the movie, we went out to lunch at a cafe called Coco Cubano. As the name suggested, Coco Cubano is a Cuban cafe, specialised in cocktails and delicious food from the Latin America. The cafe was very well decorated, with poster and ornaments on the walls and diner style seating designs that showcases the Cuban vibe nicely.

复活节的礼拜六，我们和几个朋友和一大堆小孩一起去看《彼得兔》，看完电影一起去了附近的Coco Cubano 吃午饭。Coco Cubano 是一家古巴咖啡馆，主打拉丁美洲小吃和鸡尾酒。餐厅的布置十分到位，墙上色彩鲜艳的画报和美式小餐馆式的皮沙发和圆桌的确散发出浓浓的古巴风情。

Of course, being in the middle of the day and most of the us had to drive, we didn't order any mojito. Instead we ordered their equally good ice granita, which is essentially a frozen drink made from a mixture of fruit juice blended together. I had the passionfruit granita which was garnished with lime and frozen berries. It was ice-cold, fruity, and very refreshing, perfect for a hot afternoon like this one.

因为大家都要开车所以没有人点鸡尾酒。不过我们点了同样出彩的格兰尼塔，一种以不同果汁混合成的雪泥所制的饮料。我点了个百香果格兰尼塔，百香果的果香混合着青柠的清香，再加上冰冻莓子的酸甜，冰凉透心，香甜清爽，十分适合炎热的下午。

For food, I ordered a Cubanito street sandwich, with pulled pork, ham, melted cheese and a delicious sauce made from mustard and chipotle mayo, packed between two lightly toasted bun, and served in a diner style basket with freshly fried chips. While it might look ordinary, the sandwich was surprisingly flavoursome and delicious, with the smokey sauce nicely complementing the smoky pulled pork, and the humble ham added that slight edge that made the sandwich more than ordinary. Definitely worth trying.

午饭的主餐我点了一个Cubanito古巴三文治。手撕猪肉，火腿，芝士奶酪，还有而芥末和墨西哥辣沙拉酱，夹在两半烤的刚好的面包之间，佐以香脆的炸薯条，以别具风情的小篮子盛上。虽然这三文治看上去平平无奇，它却出奇的美味。酱汁和猪肉配搭得十分精彩，而那平凡的火腿则起了画龙点睛的作用，完成了这三文治味道的升华。非常值得一试。

J ordered a Nachos. The portion size was generous, the guac was nicely done, and the meat sauce is good. But the tortilla chips were mostly soggy already, which was quite disappointing as Nachos without the crunch is a Nachos with no soul.

J 点了个Nachos烤干酪辣味玉米片. 份量挺大的，酪梨酱也调得很好，肉酱和奶酪也不错，只是本应是脆脆的玉米片在上菜时已经变软，让好好的一道菜变得没有灵魂，实在可惜。

For M he chose a grilled chicken soft tacos which I don't think he knew exactly what it was. The presentation was well done, and the portion size was generous considering it was entree/tapas size. M finished one whole one while we share out the other one so I didn't get to try any, but M said it was delicious (although he was more keen on having more chips) .

M 自己选了个墨西哥卷饼，不过我觉得他不太清楚墨西哥卷饼是什么。可是这个菜看上去是不错的，而且以前菜来说份量是挺多的，酱汁看上去也挺漂亮的。我没有尝，不过看M吃得津津有味应该是做得挺好的(不过小孩还是最喜欢薯条）。

Our friend also ordered a fisherman basket which looked pretty delicious. It would be easily the prettiest dish of the day. But I didn't try any, so I couldn't comment on how good it was.

我们朋友还叫了个很漂亮的渔夫海鲜篮，应该是桌上最漂亮的一道菜了。不过我没有尝所以对味道没法评论。

Overall, there are some hits and misses. The ice granita was very nice, and I would think that being their specialities cocktails would probably be just as good if not better. The Cuban sandwich was delicious, and was definitely a hit, but the nachos was a bit disappointing. One thing that bothered us was that the person who was at the teller was not very friendly when we order the food. Hopefully that was just a one off thing - may be because it was too hot. If you are into drinks and a light lunch and looking for something different with the right vibe, Coco Cubano would be a good choice. Just remember that not everything is perfect across the board.

总括来说，Coco Cubano有好有坏。饮料十分出彩，我也相信他们主打的鸡尾酒应该也是很棒的。他们的古巴三文治也十分不错，只是他们的Nachos则有点强差人意。还有一个减分的地方就是他们的服务态度不是特别好，还有点不太礼貌的感觉。不过也不一定没次都这样就是了。总而言之，如果你想找一个有异国风情的咖啡馆喝点小酒，吃点小吃，Coco Cubano是个好选择，只是要记得不是每样都一百分，免得失望。
