Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 11/06/18> It isn’t always about picking a winner…

in #dailydose7 years ago (edited)

It is Election Day...

As this is the second Tuesday in November that means it is Election Day here in the USA. I have offered up some suggestions regarding this day and how I was going to approach it over the last nine months. I also already voted early since I didn’t know for certain that I would even be around my area on this day and I didn’t want to miss out on voting.

I encourage you...

If you haven’t voted yet and you are reading this I encourage you to get out and vote today. I will also tell you that despite what we have always heard about how good it feels to be on the winning team or win in general I can tell you that I expect out of all the races I cast a vote in on my ballot I really only expect that one candidate I voted for will win his race.

So why am I feeling so good right now about this Election Day? That is a great question and I am glad you asked it of me.

I finally voted my...

I finally voted my conscience rather than the party line, which has always been Republican for me, but since there really isn’t any difference any longer between either party I decided it was time to at least send a message with my vote.
Here in Texas every state wide elected office is currently held by a Republican so I voted for the Libertarian if there was one in the race and if there wasn’t the Democrat candidate got my vote.

The only race...

The county wide races, which was mostly for judges, was the same thing and I voted the same way. The only race I did vote for a Republican was the race in which the incumbent wasn’t running for another term; he has retired, and so the man named Dan Crenshaw got my vote.

I voted to send...

I voted to send a message to those incumbents; and this year if their margin of victory is to close for comfort then they might just start paying a little more attention to what the common ordinary man has to say and not what the big corporate lobbyists are telling them while they are being slipped bribes and campaign donations.

I know that is...

I know that is a real long shot but realistically it is the only shot I see. I could not in good conscious keep voting for people who tell me one thing and do another. I may be crazy but I am not insane.

I declare myself cured...

For those of you who want to know; I see insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, well I am past that stage. I would even declare myself cured of my insanity now.

Do the crazy thing...

So if you haven’t voted yet, do the crazy thing today and vote to end the insanity you are dealing with.

It is easier than you think.

Until next time,

Note: Thanks for reading the Daily Dose.

FOR TSE: Election Day in the U.S. is the first Tuesday in November, unless the first day of November falls on a Tuesday. Then it's moved to the 8th. How stupid is that? But it reflects perfectly the state of our government. You can quote me on that. In fact, you can pretty much quote anything I say or write. I'll stand by every opinion I have -- until and unless Life proves me wrong. Conclusions are essential, but so is keeping an open mind ... and yeah, <--- you can quote me on that, too. Come to think of it ... that may become my new tag line.

You can even quote my typos -- of which I corrected two before I punched Post.

Lincoln, Cleveland, Theodore Roosevelt, FDR, JFK and the first George Bush -- Poppy Bush -- were all elected on November 8 -- so it ain't exactly auspicious. This is all apropos of absolutely nothing, of course, because today is not November 8. But it is Election Day. So get out and vote, y'all.

And we will be celebrating November 8 at our house for our very own reasons. The Weasel and I will have been married 18 years. If he lives that long.

Now on to the next victim. Have a great day!!! <3

Happy damn near anniversary. You two are among my favorites on this goofy platform and it is certainly my pleasure to get to know you a bit.

You can quote me on that. Trust me, I'm a mechanic.

Congrats on 18 years, keep slaying the victims, thanks.

Today is voting day, no matter the date. I believe it is important to cast your vote even if your purpose is just to send a message. That is often as important as voting a specific candidate.

I'll be one of those initial 'early returns' in Arizona, my ballot has been in for better than a week.

I don't hold out much hope for my 'message sending' ballot, but it has to start sometime and someplace. If not me, who?

Yes, it isn't always about picking a winner, at least not for me any longer. Sounds like you see it the same way too.

Some will get out if they vote on the second Tuesday of November, :) but that said I think its great if nothing else I think more people are out voting and giving more thought to this election for whatever reason or whichever en dof the spectrum they may sit

Yes, at least people are voting and that is a good thing, so many people don't vote and then just complain about things. I vote and complain so at least I make the effort.

I think iif you voted then you are fully warranted to complain :)

That is the same way I see it. Thanks.

To late, I already sent the order in, I seriously thought no one would pay attention to that opening line and head straight to the word "election". You proved me wrong, again.

My bad!

Lol, i thought you just made an error. Well done @abbak7

I do things like that, pop up contests that are unannounced. I did one once that had a line buried at the very end of the post that said be the first to acknowledge this give away and it is yours. It was like four days or so before @buttcoins spotted the post and read all the comments and not one person had mentioned it so he did and won.
I do it so people will help me make a better Daily Dose, not all the mistakes I make are contests, and a person may just get a "thank you" for pointing out an error I may have made, but some are worth some good prizes. So next time you see something like that I would encourage you to speak up.
So being that you are relatively new to the Daily Dose you hadn't seen one yet, but now you do know what to look for. Thanks for your support.

Lol thats funny :). Thanks for the heads up @sultnpapper

If the Democrat wins Florida he wants to increase taxes 40%. No thanks.

Well , I wish you well. If it hits 40% in increases are you ready to take to the streets in protests?

Lol. Ive never seen a protest do much. And thank God Red won.

The last protest that actually got some results was probably the Boston Tea Party. Back then the people weren't afraid to fight against higher taxes and being screwed by government. Those days are pretty much behind us now in our history and government knows the people don't pay attention to little incremental raises so they nickle and dime us to death with small increases of time.

The way to break a good honest man from being one is by electing them to a job in Washington, it takes about one half of one term to make them into a crook by my estimate.

Sounds about right, hah. Its just the mafia w official positions.
