Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 10/25/18> What have you spotted lately in the form of humor?
Wednesday I was...
Wednesday I was in a pretty decent mood when I left the house but as the rain moved in that mood started on the decline so I was looking for anything that would brighten my day. Liquid sunshine just isn’t as good as the dry form, yes we all need rain but we have had over six inches in the last week so I pretty much have had my fill of it lately.
I happened to notice...
So I started looking around as I was stopped at traffic lights and such and I happened to notice the white car next to me at one stop light. This old Ford Crown Victoria car was an old cop car in its former life and the new owner of it definitely has a sense of humor.
To Serve and Protect what...
Around here in Texas several police and sheriff’s office have on the sides of their patrol units the saying, “To Serve and Protect” the only thing is they just aren’t telling you exactly who they are serving or what exactly they are protecting.
For some reason...
For some reason most people believe that they are being served protection by the policing agencies but that is up for debate in my opinion. This old police car had all the department markings taken off of the car so I couldn’t tell you what city or county this car came from but I can tell you that I got a real chuckle when I read what the current owner of the vehicle had put on it.
To punish and...
Right about in the area where the “To Serve and Protect” would normally be on a unit like this was the saying “To Punish and Enslave” in a nice legible cursive script about the same size as would be the original saying that is on police cars.
Plenty of unmarked...
There are plenty of unmarked cop cars that are exactly like this car, and the current owner hadn’t removed all the radio antennas so it could easily be seen and thought that it is a current law enforcement vehicle.
That gave me...
So that was one thing on Wednesday that gave me a good laugh and I was quick enough this particular time to have my phone handy and was able to grab a picture of it to share with you today. As I was headed...
As I was headed home for the day I also spotted another vehicle that gave me a similar chuckle. This time is was a tractor trailer combination and while I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of it as I first passed it; I knew it would be there after I stopped to get gas at the corner gas station. So I filled the truck up and then headed back up the road about a half a mile and it was still there, stopped in the center turn lane just as I expected.
I don't know why...
Those tractor trailer combinations are also known as “semi-trucks” here in the USA, I don’t know why they are called that but they are. I may have to just look that up at some point, but not right now. This particular one had a livestock trailer and was stopped in the road right in front of the local meat packing place.
The Lastride...
One the back of the trailer was the name “LASTRIDE” in vertical letters with the picture of an old Longhorn cow’s head just below the wording. That was a very appropriate name for that cattle trailer for sure. The cattle coming to the meat packer would probably testify to that if they could but dead cows don’t talk much.I was able to...
Naturally I was able to get the picture since I was able to pull right up behind it in the center lane and avoid being in the way of any traffic.
What humor have...
So, just what humor have you seen lately as you move about in your world? Do you even look for little things like these that could put a little smile on your face?
These types of little things definitely need the picture to accompany them, I don’t know why I feel like they do, but to me they just do. I never have been big on taking pictures but I am getting better at doing that now.
Mrs. Papper ...
Mrs. Papper though is a different story, over the weekend I had to down load all of her pictures off of her phone for her. Actually, she had the local drug store chain make her a copy of all of her pictures that were on her phone first onto two CD’s.
I had to transfer all the pictures from the CD’s over to a thumb drive because she was afraid that the CD’s might get scratched and the pictures ruined. She had over 3,400 pictures between those two CD’s.
Her phone was to the point that it didn’t have a lick of memory left available to do anything. I always tell you folks how technologically I am challenged but she has me beat in that department by leaps and bounds. So now we were able to finally delete all the pictures since she was now positive that her pictures were safe.
I don't know...
I don’t know how many pictures I have on my phone but I can safely say it is nowhere near that number because probably 90% of the pictures on my phone have been used here in the making of these Daily Doses and you know I don’t use pictures nearly often enough. I do need to go ahead and delete mine as well.
I use postimage.cc...
I use postimage.cc to store my photos online so then I can get the links to publish them. I am pretty happy with that service, with exception of one thing. For the life of me I don’t know why I agreed one time recently to get “updates” from them.
In a moment of...
In a moment of weakness I clicked the “okay” button and now I am getting bombarded with all these little pop up advertisements featuring all these really great looking young women from Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, and a whole host of countries that are just waiting to visit and meet old guys like me, or so it says.
That is my only...
That is my only complaint with them and it is my own fault for doing it; for some crazy reason I thought that they would actually be giving me updates about using the site or something like that; not dates that are meant to get you up.
Life is short...
The caption on the latest one I saw said, “Life is short; have an affair.” Well hell yes life would be short if I took their advice; the Mrs. has a bunch of sharp knives in her kitchen drawers.
Ya’ll have a great day and look for some humorous shots to share.
Until next time,
@sultnpapper

Well, I diddled around here a little this morning and don't get the credit for the semi-trailer question. thekittygirl got that. We have lots of full trailers around here for the row crops (mostly lettuce) where the trailer is towed with a tractor (John Deere type) while loading then behind a truck type tractor to go to processing. They don't have duals on either end so they will go right down the rows. I've been right near two of them with tires blowing on the trailers and it's like a grenade going off. Literally.
I love the captions on both rigs. Big smile. I see lots of stuff like that (I am hyper vigilant and aware on the road. I'm still alive) but no photos.
The best ones around here tend to be the 'honey wagons' septic pumpers. One company here has "Satisfaction Guaranteed-Or Double Your #&$% Back!" on the back of the tank. Pretty effective, I'm guessing.
I have a guy I know (friend of a friend guy) that was the local rep for a hard cider company based in Phoenix. Dicken Cider. Yes, he had a van with the company logo. "Everybody loves a Dicken Cider". Pretty bizarre. It didn't last long...
I have about 40k photos in several places. The bulk are in Google storage but I've tried others. I'm liable to just buy some Amazon cloud space...
Almost all my phone photos pass through Google Drive. It's the easy way for a person that doesn't use I photos with his apple phone. Though I might give it a try just for phone pics. But there is the compatibility problem with Apple and Linux...
Thanks for a couple of smiles. Here's hoping my last ride doesn't come anytime soon.
You were sound asleep when @thekittygirl jump on this Daily Dose, she was all over it just minutes after it was posted so don't beat yourself up over it.
I have had a couple semi trailers pop rear tires when along side of me on the freeways in my travels and while I have never heard a grenade explode in real life I can imagine that the sound is similar in volume, those tires make a really loud noise when they let go.
The septic guys are funny here as well, one company has their saying, "We are number 1 in the number 2 business" another one did a take off of the old "Got Milk" campaign with "Got Septic".
Those cider people had a good one as well, to bad they did last long. But clever sayings only get you so far, the stuff has to taste good.
I don't believe I will ever get to the point of 40K in photos but one thing is for sure, the digital revolution of photography sure hurt a lot of film manufacturers like Kodak. I don't believe people would take a tenth of the pictures they take right now if they still had to buy film and then had to pay to have it developed and printed.
I second your thoughts on last rides.
I see quite a few old cop cars being driven and occupied by people these days. I wonder if they are cheaper to obtain since everyone can instantly spot them? 🤔 Wow that wording is pretty funny and pretty bold to have put on there.
My world is full of humor everyday right here in my home. With these children of mine there is hardly ever a dull moment. 😅
I know here in Texas they auction them off on an online auction site and I have seen the old cop cars bring as little as $300 and normal is around $1200 to $1500 like the one that I got that picture of, even though you could just see the door in the picture. For the most part these cars are pretty well worn out by the time they go to auction and most need some type of repairs in order to get them running.
The wording was funny but accurate as well as I see it.
I bet those young ones do keep you full of humorous things too. Thanks for dropping in, very much appreciated.
Yep just what I thought. Makes sense why they are easy to obtain.
Most certainly, I’m glad I came to visit.
Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

Graffiti can be pretty funny, at least around my town. They are satirical and always have something about them that makes you giggle. Good thing you had your camera with you to capture that car :D
I've seen some funny graffiti as well but what I don't like about graffiti is that most of the time the graffiti artists don't get permission from the property owners to paint up what they are painting and end up costing the owners a lot in removing the stuff.
Always love reading your posts @sultnpapper. You got me chuckling with the image of that truck taking the cattle on their 'lastride'. Some people just have a great sense of humour.
Yea, I really liked that one. I liked it enough that I had to go back and get a photo. People with a good sense of humor are generally good people from what I have found over the years of my life.
A full trailer has axles at the front and the rear of the trailer.
A "semi" trailer only has axles at one end, and the other end must rest upon the vehicle towing it.
Now, for the funny thing I saw... a delivery vehicle for a peach-flavored ale which made me laugh out loud — literally — when I saw it: 🤣
That makes sense on the tires and axles, I think I had known at some point but forgot it. There are some tandem truck & trailers that will have one of each style trailer I see out on the interstate from time to time so it should have registered with me.
That peach is a good peace of humor too.
That’s good stuff! Surprised the trucker got away with that in this day and age
If you are talking about getting away with being parked in the turn lane, there really isn't much choice for him. This meat place used to be out in the "country" and nothing around it 70 years ago when it was started. Now the "city" has moved out into it's back yard so to speak so the two lane road it was on is now four lanes of traffic with a center turn lane and there was another cattle truck unloading that he was waiting for to finish unloading.
If you meant the name of his trailer, well, that is his right to name it what he wants so more power to him. I will tell you that this meat packer gets a lot of visits from the PETA folks in the form of protesters picketing their place on a regular basis and the sheriff or constable has to end up sending a couple of their patrol cars out each time to keep the peace so that is always interesting.
That made me chuckle, and I needed a laugh. I bet that "punish and enslave" driver gets pulled over a lot though!
I don't know, it is possible, but you pretty much had to be next to the car like I was to read it, i don't know that you could read it if it was moving at speed because it really isn't written in very large font.
Where I grew up, New Jersey, we just called tractor-trailers trucks. Maybe tractor trailers. I first heard them referred to as semis when I was in the Navy and met people from other parts of the country. Semi? Doesn't that mean half? Half of what?
Great post!
Kind of the way I was thinking about the use of the term "semi" with the tractor trailers. They sure look like complete trailers to me.
I finally got around to putting all my phone into one program, and now I am organizing them. I thought I had about 3,000 photos, but it turns out I have A LOT more than that. Once I put together all the various folders on my computer, it turns out I have thousands of photos. I have already deleted a few hundred, and see many more deletions in my future. Then comes the task of organizing them!
I don't know what she will end up doing with all of those photos but it was a time consuming task, and I wasn't sorting them or placing them in folders either. Good luck to you on that project of yours.
Thanks! I will definitely take some time. The first thing I need to do is sort out personal from ones that could be used for work purposes. Once I have that, then I can start doing all the other parts.
