Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 08/06/18> A big day today … in more ways than one.
Lets get started...
Well I finally got caught up on last week and today starts another week and there isn’t a better day than Monday to kick things off in the right direction, so let’s get started. Fourteen years ago today was indeed a big day in our lives as we celebrated the birth of our first daughter, you know her from the daily dose as Blondie, but I think of her as Precious.
Forty years wait...
Having a baby girl born into my side of the family is a pretty rare occurrence and hadn’t happened in over 40 years since the birth of my little sister so needless to say it was definitely a huge day. I have to say this little girl didn’t waste any time in making her entry into the world either.
It's time...
At 5:00 AM that morning the wife woke me and informed me that it “was time” and that we needed to head to the hospital. In investing the advertising always has a little legal disclaimer “past performance should not be used as an indicator of … blah blah blah … future results.” Well the same goes for labor and delivery of babies in case you didn’t know that.
Pure hell and pain...
Our first born child was a long labor, over ten grueling hours of pure hell and pain, but I managed to survive it and the only scars I have from it are from the finger nails the wife kept burying in my arms during the contractions. So we thought we had plenty of time to get to the hospital and get settled in before Blondie would finally poke her head out and join the world.
Fast and easy...
Blondie had a different plan of action and so by the time we got to the hospital around 7:00 AM she had figured she had given us enough time. We no sooner got checked in and placed in a delivery room and she was “on the way out” and there was no time for even as much as a shot of pain killer let alone the full blown epidural spine shot that deadens the lower part of the body. I remember looking at my watch and it was 7:40 AM and the baby was already all cleaned up, wrapped in the little baby blanket complete with the little pink skull cap and nursing on a tit while Mamma was holding her in a chair so the hospital staff could change the linens on the bed.
She made it into the world so fast that the doctor we had planned on using for the delivery couldn’t even make it to the hospital in time to do his part, so the doctor on the maternity floor ended up doing the delivery. The wife ended up saying that she felt way better after this delivery than the first, I would think so, it was about 9:15 minutes less time than the first one. She said that it also was because she had no anesthesia drugs that had to wear off and those I guess are some wicked like hangover symptoms. So that’s the story of Blondie coming into the world.
Damaged goods...
There is one little side story and we didn’t ever realize it until almost four years later when she needed some chest x-rays. The doctor that read those x-rays asked us at what age did she break her collar bone. We told him that she had never broken her collar bone, but he showed us the x-rays and sure enough, he pointed out where her collar bone had been broken and healed on her left side shoulder.
Undetected for sure...
The doctor surmised that seeing how her delivery was so fast that the collar bone had to have been broken in the delivery, he said that it happens sometimes and goes undetected. Well put another one in the undetected column Doctor, because when we left the hospital we sure as hell didn’t know.
Sorry baby...
It also explains why she would always fuss when we would buckle her in her little baby car seat with the shoulder straps like race car seat belts have. Looking back, that must have been a real painful experience for her, and each time we pulled the belts tight to “protect” her we were probably undoing whatever healing had taken place from the last time she had been buckled up. Had we known the situation I’m sure there could have been several trips that she was taken on that could have been avoided, but when you don’t know; you just don’t know. Sorry baby.
She is now fourteen and going on twenty two as she is growing into a very a attractive young lady.
Listen up boys...
I am very protective of my girls and so this is fair warning to any of the boys that might have some ideas running through their little pea brain minds, she is protected by Smith and Wesson and another company named Winchester. So if you are not ready to meet your maker you might just want to stay at least an arm’s length away from Blondie or Shortie.
The celebration...
The standard birthday celebration is opening presents in the morning which is preceded with the singing of happy birthday as the “wake up” call. Then later in the evening supper will be at the restaurant of her choice which will probably not be a favorite of mine but this is her day, not mine.
In between she has a Girl Scout meeting as she is trying to finish up her silver award project and I know the wife has some plans to take her and her best friend shopping and a movie so all and all it should be a good day for Blondie.
So our little angel, who was born with a broken wing as I like to call it, is fourteen today, Happy Birthday Blondie!
Later this week...
I have a couple things in store for you folks as well this week as I continue on with spreading the truth using the #wakeupamerica theme and this one involves some things that date back to legislation from 1948 that few people are aware of and how that legislation was amended in 2012 with the work of a Texan, (piece of shit Texan in my opinion) that opened flood gates on government propaganda.
If you think that only the communist countries have government sponsored propaganda, as we are lead to believe, think again.
Until next time,
@sultnpapper

Congratulations.
Seems she keeps good company, then again what else to expect from a girl smart enough to know that breakfast is the most important meal and that it was time to get out there!
She is definitely a smart one, and she knows how to work with the good company too. Pretty well as a matter of fact.
Congratulations! And I absolutely love the protecting companies, good choice and necessary I must add! :)
Thanks, and I'll mention it to the "boys" you are a fan of them, I'm sure they will get a bang out if knowing that.
what a beautiful accounting and lucky girl!! how awful about the collar bone :(
my bday was yesterday, yay Leos!!
wishing you all very happy celebration.
Thanks @eaglespirit , I felt really terrible that we didn't know about that collar bone, we just thought she was a "fussy " baby. I had a broken collar bone when I was a senior in high school from a football injury so I know the kind of pain she had been going through. She does now have a very high pain threshold I can tell you that.
Thanks and I'll pass the wishes along to her and happy belated birthday to you as well.
Happy Birthday Blondie! That's a really good entry story. Except for the collarbone part, of course.
You really ought to remember that boys of that age really don't have a mind as the rest of society defines it. They really only want two things and generally can't remember what the second one is. Doesn't mean protective measures aren't in order and can't be effective :)
We went a fair stretch between girls in my family too. From my youngest sister in '61 to my brother's granddaughter in '14.
My sister once came at me just hop up and down mad. She wasn't very big so when she got really mad you could tell pretty easy. Anyway, she was maybe a Junior in High School. Not only was she mad, she was mad at ME. "Every boy in three counties is scared of you. Makes dating just about impossible." Who knew? She went off to college and married an epic loser. I guess maybe I didn't do so bad after all. At last report both her kids were doing hard time in California and the loser died with the needle in his arm.
Happy Birthday Blondie. A really good day to be sure.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, I will pass them along to her. My sister was really excited, she never had kids so she was relieved that she would have a niece that she could leave her jewelry to when passes on. But now she has the task of deciding who will get what since Shortie also came into the picture a few years later.
So sad about your little sister, you can only protect them for so long and then it is up to them, but at least you know you did your best.
Thanks for the great comment and continued support of the daily dose, very much appreciated.
Never had daughters or any children for that matter. If I had, I would wish that I would be a doting dad like you. Your daughter is very fortunate to have such a loving father. Be sure to say happy birthday from old Sarge.
I'll do it Sarge, thanks for the kind words as well.
Wishing a Happy Birthday to Blondie!! 🎂
I loved the way you told this story @sultnpapper!! My niece had a broken collar bone when she was born also but the doctor detected it and she had a little baby sling for a short time. Sounds like Blondie is gonna have a lovely day! Wishing a beautiful evening to everyone!! ❤
I'll pass those wishes on to her, thank you. I am glad you enjoyed this story, your niece was very lucky that the doctors caught that, we felt really guilty after we learned of it, but how in the heck you would know since she looked perfectly fine and she only fussed when we would buckle her. Just figured that she had been confined so long in the belly that she just wanted freedom of movement.
You're very welcome! It is a hard thing being a parent and I understand the guilt aspect. I will say that my sister never would have known either just by looking at her baby and she fussed also so I don't, honestly, know that the sling did much other than make her even more uncomfortable. Babies can be pretty resilient like that..mind you, I'm going back almost thirty years now. Hard to believe when I see my nieces and nephews now. I still see them as those little children hanging out on the front porch playing and singing songs!
Some times it is much easier to remember them like that when they were young and innocent, A person could always just use the excuse that "their young, they don't know any better" but, in the case of some of our nieces and nephews we can't use the "young" part any more.
They just ended up being a bunch of self centered jackass "adults" who still don't know any better, since their parents never taught them better.
I am speaking of ours, not yours obviously.
Sometimes it is easier! I got some like that on my end. Not all but some. I even have a couple of siblings I would say that about. I haven't written on it as it is painful and hard to word but they sure didn't get that from our parents. Myself and a couple of sisters talk about it often and don't know where they get it and may never know. They just are who they are I guess and as you said "a bunch of self centered jackass "adults"!
Thanks for sharing the birthing story. Happy b’day to your “Precious.’ 🎂 🎉 . That’s too bad about the collar bone and all the years you didn’t know about it. I think broken bones are genetic. Hubs had the same bones broken his father had.
Steemit is slow today or is it me.? 😊
Thanks Red, I will convey those birthday wishes to her, we just got back from supper and relaxing a little before we have some cake.
Steemit has been quite slow for a number of days now, it is not you.
Sorry to be reading this a few hours late to get timely wishes to the birthday girl, but please give her my best wishes, anyway, along with this birthday blinkie 😁
A very Happy Belated Birthday to Blondie! I would have to agree that having a drug free delivery is the way to go. You feel so much better for it. Once you get that precious little bundle in your arms, you forget about whatever pain you had. We didn't have any girls until my granddaughter came along and I am enjoying every minute spoiling them to the max!
