Dad Tip of the Day: Have your kids spend as much time as possible with their cousins – it will have many benefits!

Kids need close relationships throughout their lives to develop into socially thriving individuals. One source of lifelong companionship is through cousins.

I personally have many cousins, some of which I am close to, and others who are not as close any more. As kids though, we greatly benefited from all the time we got to spend together. I found a good article online that lays out many benefits of kids being close to their cousins: https://www.mother.ly/love/10-reasons-growing-up-with-cousins-is-the-best

  • They can be each other’s first best friends

  • They protect one another

  • They always have someone to hang out with at family functions

  • Easier to make plans with them

  • Sleepovers are easier

  • You share cool hand-me-downs

My young kids only have a couple of cousins right now, but more are expected and they are already become great friends. Here is the 4 of them exploring a kids museum together:

Some kids may not be lucky enough to have cousins, but for those who do, help ensure your kids make the most of the relationship!

I appreciate you coming by today,

Brian

Great tips for us. It's true that Cousins are our best friends specially for kids. They are not only our friends but also brother and sister. Thanks a lot for sharing the educative lesson.
