Don't expect wider roads for cyclists in Santa Clara county

This is my road bike ride in South San Jose yesterday. San Jose is within Santa Clara county and I spoke with a few county workers along the road regarding the widening of the road as there is almost no shoulder in some places.

The ride was 28 miles and 800 feet of climbing. It was a warm 80* f, so sweating was on the menu.

I past Calero Reservoir which is in South San Jose and is in a fairly remote area. It is a2 lane road, one for each direction.

I noticed a Santa Clara County roads and parks car on the side of the road and the workers were just up the street about 100 yards doing some measurements/assessments.

I asked them if there was any plans to expand the road 1 foot for cyclists and they said no, because there would need to be an environmental study first because the side of the road was considered drainage. Apparently, the environmentalists do not want to harm and squirrels, wild life or cut down any wild brush...

Santa Clara would also need the money for the work which is not allocated for the project. We here in California pay a lot of taxes already, Federal, State, Local/Sales, Property, Utility, Communications, Gas.........................etc... It is really unbelievable...

And as a cyclist, I'd like better roads to ride on. I feel that we are not getting a fair return for the amount of taxes paid. (The state workers get huge pensions, it's really unfair that they managed to rape the California general fund. Us tax payers get taxed up the ass so they can collect their pensions and live a good life) BS...
