The SFT Curates 8/19/2017

in #curation7 years ago

The SFT is back with three wonderful stories—one fantasy chapter that's packed with emotion, a high-flying science fiction short story, and a jolting new take on an old legend. We hope you enjoy!

WHAT MADE THESE STORIES STAND OUT TO US?

We chose these selections because they are tightly written, well-edited, and show creative innovation. The SFT curates only polished, marketable work. A story may show promise, but if it is poorly edited, it will not qualify for our project. The blockchain is permanent. Once a post is locked down after seven days, any editing gaffes and lazy writing is there for the world to see—forever. And that’s not what we want, nor should it be what writers want.

GETTING IT RIGHT PAYS OFF

Our goal is to reward excellence with financial incentive. At this time, The SFT is a fledgling project, not well funded. Our weekly payouts to authors may fluctuate as our wallet grows or shrinks. Steemshelves is capable of generating enough SBD for these payouts to one day be quite substantial, making SFT curation a coveted prize in the Steemit community. Hopefully this will motivate fiction authors to put only their very best and thoroughly edited work on the blockchain. We’re currently looking for SP delegators as well as donors of SBD to help fund this project. We also have a curation trail with Streemian for anyone wishing to add their vote to ours every week.

The MSP Fiction Workshop

Fiction authors looking to hone their craft and contribute editorial input are encouraged to visit the MSP Fiction Workshop. While we don’t curate exclusively from this group, it does provide a great opportunity for us to communicate with authors about editing that may be needed for their work to qualify. The SFT is a project of the Workshop, and all of our curators can be found there. A long-term goal for the Workshop is to see many of our authors in print, with successful writing careers in the mainstream. The SFT is our first major step toward making that happen. Visit us in the Workshop to learn more.

These three curated stories will appear today in the SFT Library at http://sftlibrary.com/

CURATION: 8/12/17

Our selections this week are listed alphabetically by username: “Troll Tears” by @GMuxx, “The Tower Where The Neon Ends” by @horrorguyian, and “Bound” by @jrhughes.

Zulkaz bears responsibility for his entire family on his gnarled and burly shoulders. But the mountain they call home harbors dangerous secrets, some so awful they threaten everything Zulkaz holds dear.

Technology thrills and can offer hope for a better future. But it can also have a dark side, and Niao knows this better than all the others who live at the edge of the neon with her.

Maybe his evil can be harnessed for good. Maybe it can't. Whichever the case, the tethers break at the end of his master's natural lifespan. But she carries an unnatural bloodline, and she knows the one word that can keep him bound to her will forever.

These are three wonderful stories and all very worthy of inclusion. It has been a joy seeing them develop out of the feedback in the workshop. Someday we'll be saying "I knew them when..." after they become famous for their writing.

Three good ones, yet again!

Well, I now have more reading to do, don't I? 🔖 (bookmarked)

The workshop has been such a blessing to me. I've not only seen improvement to my writing thanks to the skills and generosity of the regulars there, I've also found an amazingly supportive and entertaining group of friends.

Thank you for the honor of appearing here alongside two incredible pieces. Congrats @horrorguyian and @gmuxx! Well deserved 😊

Whoo! This is some terrific company to be in. Great work @jrhughes and @GMuxx

Seeing another curation post makes me sad that I haven't had any time to write properly. I miss it. Really I do.

I am humbled by the inclusion of my little story. Thank you very much.

The workshop is a place I like, I know I don't offer much there.. I just come to say what's in my mind and chat with you when I find people. But I'm sure one day, when my English finally become presentable I'd help some new authors like everyone in the workshop helped me!!

A long-term goal for the Workshop is to see many of our authors in print, with successful writing careers in the mainstream.

I just write as a hobby... But If I could put something in the print? what else can I wish for?
