Not a big fan of cities here as well. However, I think it has net positive effects. The only problems are proper planning and as usual, taxation for state cities, which is always difficult to justify. Anyway, if one is able to pick up everyone in this world and distribute them uniformly across the surface of the Earth, congregations will still happen like how human attention is a zipf distribution - there are millions of words in English, but only 100 words end up being used in 90% of English literature.
Suddenly im reminded of a crypto project - hermicity - cities, decentralized haha.. its pretty interesting although i wasnt sure if the author was joking or not..
Excellent video and discussion on the future of urbanization. We're in unprecedented territory right now with cities containing more than half of the world's population! (First time in history.) The effect of an internet-age metropolis is sure to pose some fascinating and challenging questions... Anyway, great comprehensive video (still watching it now...)
Cities are something that I like and don't like at the same time lol. For one, I consider Bangkok City to be a mix of state-controlled planning in city-centre and anarchic planning in the sprawls toward city outskirts. It's fascinating, convenient, and messy at the same time. I like feeling the pulse of cities (maybe that's just me). It's nice to experience and be part of one, the only part I don't like is actually not the experience of it, but in the knowledge of how cities are managed..
Nice find Kevin! Water will be a huge curator of urbanism in the 21st century... both in terms of a rising coast - where a huge percentage of cities are located - but also in terms of resource and infrastructure. I'm very interested to see how all these moving parts will shape a new type of city ...

I'll be happy to have something with 80k view count, and I'm saying it's low-count here :D lol. I think anything lower than 100k can be said to be low view..

Can't live with 'em can't live without 'em. That kind of push-pull feeling helps make cities so complex and fascinating. We love the messiness also...
