Steemit Portrait MUSIC Photography Contest Winners and Honorable Mentions of Week 7!!!!
@jasonrussell's Music Portrait Contest just finished, and there were some amazing entries. Jason enjoyed the entries on the theme so much, and had such an overwhelming participatory response that he decided to carry it into this week! You can enter your music portraits, and click here to get the details on this week's contest details.
I have really enjoyed seeing the passion and energy that photographers and musicians can bring together in this completely symbiotic way through the magic of Steemit Portrait Contest. The linked post has a number of the entries contained within, and they are well worth your time to check out. I'm sure most folks will find an account they want to follow coming out of Portrait Contest. Very cool to see that community-within-a-community blossom.
Girls Hate Wrestling [010]
I will come right out and admit that I am partial to content created by @wednesdaymiller, as she was one of my students, and I can more than vouch for the quality of her creative content. She's a writer, a dreamer, a performer, and a generally creativity-exuding person. She also loves wrestling, and blogs about it semi-regularly.
She describes her series by saying:
Girls Hate Wrestling is a blog run by a girl, who in fact, loves pro-wrestling. This was originally an idea for a youtube series with my best friend, but that never happened. Now it's going to be a blog, possibly some videos, of me channeling my love of a testosterone fueled soap opera of greased up men in underwear battling to lay on top of each other for 3 seconds... sometimes for a belt.
The Daily Tribune: Most Undervalued Posts of Aug 08 - Part I
@screenname publishes The Daily Tribune for the following purpose:
What if every voter had an equal say no matter their Steem Power? The Daily Tribune finds out and highlights those posts that would have been rewarded most but weren't. In ancient Rome, the Tribune of the Plebs was the voice of the people, serving as an important balance to the power of the ruling class. With your help, we hope the Daily Tribune will serve a similar purpose for the Steemit community.
If you already know about this, great! I hope some of you can find some awesome new stuff to follow from here! I find this publication to be quite useful in both a curative sense, as well as simply to find new quality content on the platform. I don't know about you guys, but sometimes just sitting and refreshing the New category can get a little bogged down with crapola sometimes, so publications like The Daily Tribune serve to showcase some posts that maybe went under the radar, even though they had a good number of votes and quality engagement on it.
It's Not Really A Big Deal But...I Go Shopping For Groceries On My Front Lawn :) Here's Today's Treats!
@lyndsaybowes, hailing from Halifax, has an incredibly cool blog that you need to be following. In addition to great posts on homesteading, she's an outstanding musician and brings original music to the platform on the regular. We became acquainted initially through Steemit Open Mic hosted by @luzcypher, and really hit it off and have been friends on Steemit since then.
You'll find outstanding content on her blog, and I highly suggest checking it out. I'm going to throw one more link in here, as it is also just simply amazing content, in she and her husband's Open Mic entry this week.
Our song this time around, is another one in the ARTivism category. We try and raise awareness about little known (in the mainstream) subjects, in an effort to bring empathy, compassion and awareness.
We are all one family, the human family. All of us deserve to live lives of peace and harmony, to Thrive.
SUBMISSIONS HAVE BEGUN!! Sound Legion presents Steemit Artist Music Compilation Volume 2 - HIP HOP RAP VOLUME
@soundlegion does a lot to support, encourage, and inspire Steemit Musicians, and for that I am epically grateful. Volume One of Steemit Artist Compilation consisted of musical entries spanning all genres represented across the platform, and is available to stream or download!
For Volume Two, however, they decided to mix it up a little bit:
The Steemit Artists Compilation is a collection of original songs from music artists on the steemit platform. For Volume 1 we took everything that came in, 51 original tracks from 53 Steemians on steemit.com. We were so impressed with the variety for volume 1 we wanted to accept everything to get a really broad range of what steemit has to offer sound wise. For volume 2 we will be cutting the selections down to 20 accepted tracks that are genre specific to Hip Hip & Rap.
If you are an original hip hop artist, I recommend you send those tunes in! @soundlegion splits post payouts with the artists, as well, so you get your fair share of the tokens generated from the posts! Very cool, and a solid representation of the goodness of the Steemit Community.
