Archdruid Gaming: Author Showcase Issue 4

in #curation6 years ago

This is our fourth week of Author Showcase and I can’t believe we have had this many! This week we had many retro reviews of games and topics being written about. While it is never an aim to focus this on one thing or another it is great when a couple that were selected do follow a bit of a theme. Don’t worry if retro is not your thing there are plenty of other authors that wrote outside of that topic!

Author 1

marvel.png

@Marvel1206 is an author who is doing a couple of walkthroughs as his style of showcasing a video game and everything it has to offer. It has been a little while since we last checked in on how the characters Reed and Marshall have been doing in one of these. I’m happy to report that their stat counters are still going in. Which at the very least means they are still alive –I hope!

In his last update on Call of Duty Strike Team the team has run into a bit of a struggle. A gripping adventure ensues and you won’t believe how this one ends. You will find Russians, explosions, and even snipers. Do the main characters make it out alive? You will have to read to find out more.

Author 2

jacksimone.png

@Jackssimone is a bilingual author who writes in both English and Spanish. He likes to write gaming reviews and will provide separate posts for each language to reach a wider audience. He has a segment that he calls “The Review” where he explores lore, and the character's backstory as his main focus along with other aspects in a video game.

We can read in his English version Pokemon Black and Pokemon White all about the different characters found throughout this game. From the heroes to the troublemakers and their backgrounds. He goes over the history and breaks down many different aspects of the game giving the reader some much-needed insight into what to expect when playing it.

Author 3

reiny.png

@Reiny usually reviews anime style of shows and video games. Like, everyone, it is just fun to mix things up from time to time. You get to see in her latest game review she does just that. Even more so when you get to bring us a great cult classic that any horror fan would stand up and say “that is the one.”

In her review of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories you really get to understand just how deep in messing with the player this game can get. Everything from the game letting you know it will mess with you mentally to the small touches in how they use light to illuminate or cast a shadow on something. This game focus on far more than just cheap scare tactics and it shows.

Author 4

retroroom.png

@retro-room with a name like that you know what kind of gaming and other kinds of content to expect coming from this blog. You only need to talk a little with him to find out just how much passion and love he has for this space.

In his review of The Goonies he takes you down memory lane. You are taken on a journey with a character called Mikey. Throughout the experience, you get to enjoy older game mechanics, the art style of the era, and how games were a little more unforgiving on the player back then as well. A great read for anyone looking for retro related content.

Author 5

deadspace.png

@Deadspace is one of those authors that like to bring humor into his game reviews with the use of clever editing. On top of that, he will lure the reader deeper and deeper down the page with how he engages you in the page and in his style of keeping readers attention in his writing.

Great examples of these things can be seen in his review of Resident Evil 4 HD where only a couple of sentence in he leaves you with one mighty sized icebreaker of a hook! I’m always glad when he holds off just a tad before giving it to the reader and they are always quite funny. He then goes for that targeted audience that this review is written for. That would be those looking for an amazing horror game to play. Along the way, he pokes fun at more things, lures you in with asks questions, and lets you know his thoughts overall on this game.

Author 6

tfame3865.png

@Tfame3865 is an Android game reviewer. He showcases quite a few different kinds of games within that marketplace most of them are action filled. You can find everything from first-person shooter style of games right on into racing car games. They look great to play while you are waiting around with some spare time on your hands.

In his review of Street Racing 3D a game that is focused on being first and everything else is just not good enough. It is filled with blockades you have to get around and other game mechanics that require proficiency in the game controls. He shows you everything the game has to offer as enjoyment goes for this game. He even lets you know where he feels the game missed the mark as well.

Author 7

zakludick.png

@Zakludick has been taking his readers on a walkthrough of his Diablo II run with a character named Steemcules. It has been a little while since we have last checked in. He tends to put out a new one at least every week. For anyone looking to get that retro vibe or remember the good times of this game but lack the time to play themselves this will sure fill those needs.

In the latest story Steemcules the Strong Act 3 goes over what he has been up to recently. He leaves you with a bit of a teaser from the last one in case you missed the battle with bugs. He also finishes with up and coming content to set up some hype to keep the readers back. For the main body of this adventure he jumps right into quests he has taken on, items he finds. He even asks the readers what he should do about finding a certain item. We find out sometimes games just call an item a very strange name as well!

Author 8

stefanonsense.png

@Stefanonsense is one of those reviewers that is into all kinds of geeky things. From video games to card games and even going to local events. When he is not out playing a game like Fallout you can almost bet he is looking into upcoming changes to his favorite card game. He has a passion for Magic The Gathering and that has really shown.

As of late, he has been looking forward to M19 in Magic The Gathering. He goes over some amazing new mechanics coming out called Tribal. He explains and shows the different cards from white to black decks and many different kinds in between. Many of them carry amazing stats, changes to gameplay, and look quite OP from this side of the table. You get to enjoy the attention to detail in the artwork that these cards have. You can expect much more Magic The Gathering content coming out from him.

Author 9

otemzi.png

@Otemzi is always finding a unique game in its own right to play and review. They can often time be hidden indie gems that just find a perfect way to be amazing and separate themselves from the crowd. Even in an overplayed genre like Battle Royal. He uses his own experience among similar products to be able to point out and really tell the reader what makes one more amazing over the rest in the group.

Such is the case in Cuisine Royale which is a game that was just created as an April Fool’s joke. While the game is filled with funny clothing and some other stuff the joke is truly on any gamer who puts their nose up on this one and passes it by. While it follows in some that make the mold for Battle Royals it is also quick to break out of it and be its own thing as well. He shows you some big important difference between the sizes of the battles right down to how they treat the modern day health bar dilemma. In rethinking that approach as well. You will have to read It to find out what else the game turned on its head and did differently.

Author 10

techmojo.png

@Techmojo a game reviewing juggernaut at this point! He has managed to make it onto another Author Showcase and for good reason. He does more than just keep his readers coming back for more. He gives such a wide variety of content you will surely find something to your liking almost daily. He is also just a great source to check out for latest going-on in the gaming world.

Instead of just bringing you details on one new game coming out in 2018 he gives us 5 in BEST Upcoming Games. He gives you expected dates and some short details on what he has found to be the next best things for the remaining of the year. You have everything from The Walking Dead to another installment of Tomb Raider and so many things in between. Many of these have been eyed by gamers at E3 and the industry is excited to get their hands on the full games versions.

I am grateful that you're enjoying my content, even though I've been producing less of it lately. I'm on something of a semi-break :)

Breaks are always important even for a place like this. Many fear taking them but if you don’t you risk burning out. Quite to many once or twice a day posts are burned out and for those that are still trying to be active you can see it in there blogs and comments.

Have a wonderful week!

Thanks for the mention! I am very passionate about preserving gaming history and I'll keep writing about the topic as long as I have games to review and topics to cover.

Awesome we are looking forward to read many more! Make sure to check out our contest if you have not already Gaming Nostalgia Contest as I think you might be interested in something like that.

Congratulations to all for be users that create quality content and original.

Indeed they can’t all fit into this list! Some weeks you guys make it hard on me even when quite a few people on this platform are just no posting very much anymore. It’s great to see our community still pushing forward.

Thank you so much! It is great to be featured again.

I do my best with the Tale of Steemcules the Strong to make it entertaining and fun to read. I am glad that I give people something worthwhile to reminisce on!

Nice curation post! Keep up the good work!

Once you get a reader hooked you can take them on one wild adventure! It’s always just a great way to explore and share about a game. Game reviews are great but amazing walkthroughs are even better! I’m sure a few are left wanting to play D2 again. If only D3 was as good.

Once again, great stuff, keep it coming :)

So many great things I fear when I have so many to choose from I ended up extending this out even further. So far I’ve been able to cut it down to 10 or less. Here to the future where I find that even harder to do each week!

Oh wow. I'm glad I made the list..

Thank you Enjar

Always happy to feature amazing things members in our community are creating. I hope Reed and Marshal keep going strong. Have an amazing week.
