I prefer to sharing some info about Sri Lanka because my country has traditional and cultural history. This time I want share main museums of Sri Lanka. A museum is a mirror of a country's historical, cultural and biological heritage as well as the pride of a country. Undoubtedly, a museum has a great service to a country, enlightening the public about the heritage of the country.

Dutch Museum (Pettah)

Pettah is always on the mind of anyone who wants to buy goods at wholesale prices. Anyone shopping in Pettah could not miss the Dutch style mansion built on 17th century towers on Kumara Street. Built during the Dutch period, it was built during the reign of Governor Thomas Van Rey (1692-1697) and has since been used as his official residence. It is considered to be the oldest two storied building in Dutch architecture currently in Colombo. It was last used as a post office in Pettah and was established in 1982 as a museum by the Department of National Museums.

The Dutch Museum in Pettah exhibits Dutch furniture, coins, barrels, Dutch lettering, ceramics, Protestant symbols and Dutch artefacts, some of which were brought from the Colombo National Museum.

Ariyapala Masks Museum (Ambalangoda)

The Ariyapala Masque Museum was created in 1987 with the aim of showcasing the uniqueness of the Ambalangoda Mask Tradition and its cultural heritage. Traditional masquerade artist Ariyapala de Silva Wijesuriya has taken the lead. The museum's masquerade workshop as well as a small library containing masks on masks in Sri Lanka, an informative repository for the learners of traditional art in Sri Lanka.

Maritime Museum (Galle)

The Maritime Museum in Galle is considered as the only museum that brings to the public the marine biological and anthropological aspects of the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The Dutch Museum, built in the year 1671, near the entrance to Galle Fort, was designed by the Department of National Museums as a Maritime Museum and opened for public display on 9th May 1992.

The first gallery of the Maritime Museum depicts the traditional lifestyles and strategies of the fishermen as well as the fishermen used for maritime trade and passenger transport in southern Sri Lanka. The second compartment is dedicated exclusively to marine ecosystems and their flora and fauna. Like the National Museum of Colombo, there is also a giant whale structure, along with coral reefs and shellfish.

Folk Museum (Anuradhapura)

Fostered by the ancient irrigation works of Nuwara Wewa, Kala Wewa and Padaviya Wewa, the Anuradhapura Folk Museum was opened on 22nd August 1971 with the objective of collecting, preserving and displaying artifacts depicting the social, cultural, religious and economic information of the ancient folk of Nuwara Eliya. As a Regional Museum belonging to the Colombo National Museum.

There are many other artifacts related to agriculture, ancient medicine, home appliances, religious beliefs and beliefs, traditional folk sports, clothing and other industries besides farming. Also, visitors to the Anuradhapura Folk Museum can see an open house, a paddy field, a paddy field and a model of a Kurahan stick. .
