Mine Cryptocurrency with your Android devices, phones, tablets, etc.

Did you know you can easily mine cryptocurrencies with your Android devices?
It is actually quite simple!

  1. First thing you will want to do is set up an account with the app provider, we will be using the "Minergate mobile app". Open any web browser to the minergate web site. Here is my referral link if you want to hit me up for this guide: Click the link https://minergate.com/a/d106624b4a19c2ffc6b7c799 then click “sign up” button in top right (if you do not want to use my referral code simply hit the minergate.com site). Once you have created your new account you can now download the Minergate app from the Google Play store:

  2. Once downloaded, open the app and log in using the credentials you used to create your account on the website above. There is a brief ad that typically pops up about creating a Monero wallet, you can close out by hitting the X in the top right of the ad, it does not recur during use of the app.

  3. Click the "Settings" button in the top right of the app and then click in the area labeled “Thread count”.

  1. You will now want to decide how much of your phone's processing power you want to use. If plugged in you can do 80-100% on most phones without battery power loss. If you want to only use a little battery we will use 1 processor. The higher the threads the more coins you will mine. Click the number under “Thread count” and hit the backspace key on the displayed keyboard. You should see something like “4 processors available” (may say 2, 4, 8 etc). Type the # you want and then review the other settings you may or may not want to edit. When done, hit the “” in the top left of the screen:

  2. You should now be able to click the dropdown arrow and pick whichever coin you want to mine:

  3. Now you simply hit the START button to begin mining. After a few seconds you should see the H/s (hashrate) start showing, and over time you will see the number of shares found:

  4. In order to mine most efficiently you will want to set your screen timeout to never turn off. Most androids will only allow up to 10 minutes before screen timeout. What I have done to resolve this is download another free app called “Alarm Clock for Me free”. This is a very simple app that will allow you to dim the screen and it will never turn off. Plus it’s a pretty cool clock and alarm app if you need one!

  5. You can now leave the clock up and swipe down from the top of the phone any time to see what the current “hashrate” is you are mining. If you let your phone screen turn off, the minergate app will most likely run at a degraded mining rate as it tries to reduce power consumption. You will also see options across the bottom to look at how many of each coin you have mined (under Wallet) etc. I will be writing a post soon for how to set up your Monero Wallet, and maybe a few others
Last thing, you should always stop mining if your battery gets too low and you will need your android device for use. I carry an extra battery pack so I can run all day. You will not make millions, but you will trickle in coins from this type of mining. I run this on about 10 android devices and do pretty well with them all plugged in. This is especially handy for devices with cracked screens that may seem worthless!
    Hope this helps!

@BrutalBoris...Appreciate the Heads-Up. Would You mind if I ask You questions from time to time ?

UpVoted & Following... Thanks Again !!

I'm old school, semi-retired Investment Banker that is still climbing "the Learning Curve" regarding the Crypto Markets.

Hope You're enjoying the Weekend !!

Sure, yell any time. I'm not a veteran by any means myself. I am learning and trying to help make it easier for everyone else by breaking down all the tech stuff. I have found that a lot of the people that post here, on youtube and other avenues are extremely high level and gloss over the minutia.

Hope this helps!

That "Alarm Clock for Me free" is a nice hack to keep the display on, thanks for the post Boris.

I like this post...I want to try, what is the best coin for mining?

Monero seems to be the best overall, but Bytecoin is the easiest probably. You should get many more Bytecoins over time vs Monero, but Monero is worth a lot more. Aeon coin is another decent backup, and lastly Fantomcoin.

Did you experience cashing out from this?

Yes, I created my monero account/wallet and did a transfer last week to test everything out. I did transfer only .30 of a monero and if you do less than 1 monero transfer you are charged a .02 monero fee. SO, don't withdraw until you have 1 full Monero and no fee. Lastly, each coin has a minimum amount before you can withdraw, think Monero is .10

As a heads up, I am running 6-10 Android devices at a time, in addition to using the Windows Minergate GUI (for Monero) on 6 computers. At peak I am over 2.2gh/s and when 2-3 of the computers are in use and mining stopped i'm around 1.2. See my other post on how to use the Windows Minergate GUI

May I know the value of 1share? in BCN

Sure, it changes every minute of every day probably. To compare to Bitcoin BTC, I use this site for real time values of all cryptocurrencies: https://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/
Use that and search for Bitcoin and Monero values. As of a few minutes ago, 1Bitcoin was $2497.57 USD, and one Monero was $42.13 USD. Divide the Monero value by the Bitcoin value and that equates to .016868 Bitcoin. Does that help? You can do the same for Bytecoin, BCN by looking at the values.

How to earn from this site?

You simply follow this guide on androids, and also this guide I wrote to get your phones and computers Mining for transactions that are happening on the network for each coin. As you "find" transactions you may get some fractions of a coin, once you get up to say 1 full coin, you can transfer it to your own wallet, then use it, OR go to a market like exodus.io or coinbase and sell the coin on the exchange. I will write more blogs on these details in the coming days. Keep an eye out and upvote!

Just took a peek at my samsung tablet that has been running for 8 hours plugged up. 834 shares found in Monero. Easy $

Is it possible to mine using 3 different mobile phones and 1 account using 1 wallet?
What is the monero wallet you r using ?

Awesome post. I'm going to definitely look into this. I have a question though. Do you need a wallet to mine? I know you'll want to move your crypto into a wallet after you mine it. But do you need one to start mining?
