Cicada 3301 2018, Is It Fake?
You may or may not have heard of the new "Cicada" puzzle which was posted on 4chan, the post contained the following link: http://2rynibhfbadvfoh4.onion/ originally on the site there was an image of a Cicada and a countdown. After the countdown ended the following appeared on the site:
At the link you find the following picture:
"A LXII - LXIV - LXV - LXVIII - LXXXIV - XIII - E XVI"....Go back to where it all began, just there you find the right path."
The image is split into blocks and moved around from the original drawing from the "Book of Job" - This is one of the William Blake's illustrations a rebuilt image looks like this:
The Cicada image is also altered, you can find the self portrait of Albrecht Dürer.
Conclusion:
Is this a genuine cicada puzzle? No, absolutely not everything about it screams fake, the English on the original page with the counter was improper and there's a lack of PGP.
