🗞 Canadian Blockchain Company To Develop Cannabis Supply Chain Platform

Things are looking up for cannabis. Big pharma has been studying the drug's medicinal qualities. Wall Street investors are putting money into it. And Nevada politicians are looking for ways to provide banking services for marijuana dispensaries.

Some in the budding (pun intended) blockchain industry are excited to join the legal cannabis circle. But until last week, that was a state-by-state strategy, as recreational cannabis is illegal in most places. However, with Canada legalizing the recreational use of marijuana nationwide on October 17, things have ramped up. The same day, a Canadian cryptocurrency mining company, DMG Blockchain Solutions Inc., announced its intentions to develop a blockchain-powered global supply chain to track the quality of cannabis.

🗞 Electronics Giant HTC Announces Presale of Its Blockchain Smartphone Exodus in BTC, ETH

Taiwanese electronics company HTC has announced the presale of its widely-discussed blockchain smartphone, Exodus 1, the product’s official Twitter account reveals Oct. 23.

The Exodus 1 presale was officially announced today during the Web3 summit, taking place Oct. 22-24 in Berlin. According to the HTC Exodus website, “early access” to the phone can currently only be purchased via Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH), and is available to 34 regions, including the U.S., U.K. and Hong Kong.

🗞 Fidelity's Blockchain R&D Lead Just Went Full Crypto

Hadley Stern, the executive who led Fidelity Investments' blockchain research and development for the last three years, is joining a well-known startup in the field.

Announced today, Stern has been named the first-ever chief operating officer at blockchain software startup Bloq. Stern worked for 17 years at Fidelity, most recently as a senior vice president and the managing director of the blockchain incubator at Fidelity Labs.

Stern is leaving the financial services giant just as it launches a new digital asset trading and storage platform, Fidelity Digital Asset Services LLC, a major development in the institutionalization of cryptocurrency announced last week. But he told CoinDesk he wants to pursue bigger ambitions in blockchain.

🗞 ABN AMRO, Samsung SDS Partner for Blockchain Trade Pilot

  • Coindesk reports that ABN Amro and Samsung are partnering with the Port of Rotterdam to pilot a blockchain trade application.
  • The pilot will aim to bring efficiencies to container-based trade.
  • The CEO of Port of Rotterdam points out that a typical shipment from China to Rotterdam involves an average of 28 parties, but considers that it should be as easy as ordering a book online.

🗞 Ethereum’s Constantinople Hard Fork Is Being Delayed Until 2019

  • Ethereum’s next hard fork, dubbed Constantinople, will be postponed until early 2019, developers confirmed in a meeting Friday, according to Coindesk.
  • Coindesk reports that the upgrade, originally scheduled for November 2018, was delayed due to ‘bug’s’ found in the upgrade code released on the Ethereum test networks.
  • The Constantinople upgrade was controversial for introducing five backward incompatible changes to the way the Ethereum platform operated, including a change that reduced the amount of ether paid out for each new block created on the ledger.

So after the test of the support line around 0.81$ yesterday, we had a bounce for it but apparently the market is not yet decided with the direction to take. It looks like we want go test the support line again. A new bounce from it would confirm that a strong support line is taking place but I'm also afraid that we finish to break it. Let's see what the market will do in the coming hours.
