🗞 Bitcoin Eyes $3.8K After High-Volume Price Breakout

Bitcoin gained 7.8 percent on Friday, confirming a falling wedge breakout on the daily chart. The bearish-to-bullish trend change was backed by a jump in trading volumes to levels last seen in mid-November.

Prices could soon cross the 50-day moving average resistance at $3,642 and test resistance levels lined up at $3,800 and $4,000 in the next few days.

A break below the Jan. 29 low of $3,322 would invalidate the bullish setup. That looks unlikely, though, as the high-volume wedge breakout has confirmed bearish exhaustion signaled by falling volumes on the weekly chart.

🗞 Ripple Offered Multimillion-Dollar XRP Bonuses to Lure Top Tech Talent

Silicon Valley fintech startup Ripple goes out of its way to say it didn’t create the cryptocurrency XRP. But that doesn’t mean the company doesn’t rely on its vast reserves of the token when courting prospective hires.

One engineer who asked to remain anonymous showed CoinDesk a recruiting email from late 2018 that promised an XRP package from Ripple of worth up to $3 million, in addition to a generous salary offer.

According to the company’s LinkedIn, Ripple is looking to hire more than a dozen engineers and technical experts, including a new head of engineering for its xCurrent project, which aims to rival the legacy messaging network SWIFT at the center of the current global payments infrastructure.

🗞 BTC Futures Volume Plummets Relative to Spot Trade Heading Into 2019

Two public pension funds are dipping their toes into the world of crypto venture capital.

“As far as we know, nobody has raised money from a public pension,” Anthony Pompliano, partner at Morgan Creek Capital, told CoinDesk in an interview.

Morgan Creek, an asset manager focused on institutional clients and family offices, announced Tuesday a new crypto-focused venture fund with $40 million invested. The two public pensions anchoring the fund are Fairfax County, Virginia’s Police Officer’s Retirement System and Employees’ Retirement System.

A commissioner at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has said that the official regulation of cryptocurrencies could actually stunt the technology’s development. Hester Peirce’s comments come at a time when the SEC has been accused of acting contrarily and gives hope to those wanting governments to take a step back to prevent over-regulation

"We might be able to draw clearer lines once we see more blockchain projects mature. Delay in drawing clear lines may actually allow more freedom for the technology to come into its own".

🗞 General Motors’ Finance Arm Joins Blockchain Data Security Initiative

United States automotive giant General Motors (GM) has become the latest member to join blockchain startup Spring Labs’ partner project to enhance data security, the company confirmed in a press release Feb. 11.

GM, which has experimented with the technology before, will join the Spring Founding Industry Partners (SPIF) Program, which launched in January.

Now with almost 20 participants, the scheme aims to address issues in data provenance through collaborative research.

Today, we tried to break the resistance line when the BTC started its false Break Out. This try has been a fail and we are now again consolidating just under the resistance line. The STEEM is really waiting that the BTC is taken a decision. We will for sure break that line if we have a UP break out on the BTC, if it is a drop, we will go back in the direction of the support line in red.
