The crypto space is in need of a "ministry of silly coins".

The crypto space is exploding

There are currently over a thousand different cryptocurrencies registered on coinmarketcap.com. At this very moment a total of 1059 to be precise and they don't even list all of them... In a way this really amazes me. The crypto space has exploded and will continue to explode for a while longer but in my opinion this does not help at all with the very much needed maturing process. I'm eagerly waiting for a moment of consolidation in order for the space to mature so we can all reap the benefits.

Too much cryptos is hurting the space

Let's think about it. Out of those 1059 different currencies, how many do we actually need? How many will actually secure a space for itself in the coming 3 to 5 years? Are we talking 25 cryptos? Are we talking 50? I don't see a whole lot more than 50 really securing a niche to fulfill a specific need and stay relevant in that niche.

Either way, I believe having over a thousand different coins does the world more harm than good. In order for the mass population to get on board the space needs to mature, it needs to be found easy on all levels, people don't need or want to hold 10 different wallets, they don't want to do anything difficult when they just want to pay for a beer at a supermarket, they want to think about any of the technical stuff. With all development so incredibly fragmented over these 1000+ coins, there is simply not even development manpower to work on making the relevant ones easy for everyone.

The ministry of silly coins

It is for all those reasons and a whole lot more that we need a ministry of silly coins.

This ministry wil have certain responsibilities and help with the following:

• setting up clear guidelines which can target a coin to be silly
• if the coin is found to be silly it will get listed as such on the official list of silly coins
• silly coins are to be laughed at and by no means taken seriously, one should never buy these silly coins
• coinmarketcap can use the list to setup a new filter on their website so one should never be presented with the entire list consisting of over perhaps 75% silly coins unless people specifically want to see them if they are in a silly mood
• other sites as cryptocompare.com can apply that same filter
• other sites can configure the tracking and update mechanisms for these silly coins to use very little processing power and even slow down the track and refresh rate, thus freeing resources for all other truely deserving coins and features on the site
• eventually the world would get rid of silly people inventing silly coins and actually develop them and become more silly than they were in the first place

Once a coin is flagged as a silly coin the only way to initiate the process of trying to get of the list is by going to talk to this man:
