How to See Custom Tokens on MEW

Viewing any ERC20 Tokens on MyEtherWallet

If you've ever invested in an ICO or purchased a coin like SNM, GNT, GNO, REP, or any of the other Ethereum "ERC20" compliant tokens, then actually seeing these tokens outside of an exchange takes a bit of effort. Thankfully, MyEtherWallet automatically lists most of these major tokens, but adding new ones is still pretty straightforward. For this example, I'll be using SNM tokens I got from the SONM ICO.

First, go to Etherscan and look at your transactions. You can find the one that corresponds to your ICO transfer, or go to the Token Transfers tab to see non-ETH based transactions. Once you find it, click the TxHash link.

This will take you to the contract address which handled the token transfer. It has a nice breakdown of things like how much gas was consumed, the time stamp, and any other transaction information. The piece we want is the ERC20 Token contract address. If MEW already lists the ERC20 token, it will say something like "Golem TOKEN" instead.

Now we can see the token contract address and number of decimals it uses. We need both of these pieces of information to add the custom token to our MEW account.

Go to MEW and get to the View Wallet Info page. There is an Add Custom Token button here where you copy the ERC20 Token address and decimal values to. The Token Symbol doesn't actually matter, it's just for your reference.

Hit Save and you're good to go!

I think you are approaching the "posting too much on one thing" level. I upvoted many of your previous posts. I would encourage you to post less and when you do post, make each post fuller and more comprehensive. Good luck!

Agreed. I didn't plan on making my critical changes or ICO update posts at all, but it's easier to write it once and paste it to everyone I'm trying to help on reddit, etherscan, etc. I plan on changing teh SONM token post's title after today since it's really more of a general guide I've been meaning to make.

Thanks for following me and upvoting, your support means a ton. If there's anything you'd like covered in a future post feel free to let me know :)

Thanks for the guide. Worked like a charm!
