I am Jappreet Singh, starting off today with my very first article on steemit.

I chose the very hot topic i.e. Bitcoin. You may have got bored of it because everyone is just posting the consequences and the related answers to the query related to it but I chose to write on this article because most you guys didn't ever heard about it whether you are a regular trader or a big follower of the Bitcoin.

1.) Bitcoin is a Virtual Currency mined by Computer Solving algorithms, and all you may know that it will be having finite supply. The last will be mined in 2140 when there will be 21 million Bitcoins in circulation.

2.) As you all know Bitcoin is a digital currency so it can be used to purchase different stuffs from the internet. Here is the surprising thing to know about one of the earliest Bitcoin transactions in 2010 which saw 10,000 bitcoins traded for 2 pizzas only. Those pizzas would now be worth over $67 million. Yes!!! it is.

3.) The computing power of the network that mines bitcoins grew by 30,000% in 2013. It is 256 times more powerful than the world's top 500 supercomputers combined.

4.) The FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) has the world's biggest single bitcoin wallet/account with over 144,000 Bitcoins.

5.) A 2014 heist saw hackers steal 650,000 Bitcoins worth $300 million. This is approximately 5% of total Bitcoins which are in existence.

6.) In 2013, James Howells accidentally threw away 7,500 Bitcoins which was worth $7.5 million at that time. He went to the dump but was failed to find the Hard Drive containing the data.
